I loved Life Is Beautiful... and reding the reviews thought this could be in the same great league, Im afraid it isnt... but still has some of Roberto Benigni's magic, and the story is touching in the same thoughtfull way... Howvever he just didnt create the right scene, or storyline to facilitate his directorial magic...
Another lovely movie coming from the great Roberto Benigni. It's great, it's intelligent, it's poetic... and there's a special appearance by Tom Waits. What could I ask more?
VERY GOOD MOVIE BUT ROBERTO BENIGNI MUST REALIZE THAT ALL THESE YEARS HE MAKES MOVIES WHICH ARE ALL THE SAME AND ALWAYS HIS WIFE PLAYS.. IT WAS A TOUCHING MOVIE & KINDA MODERN BUT I CAN'T SEE ANY OTHER MOVIE OF BENIGNI AGAIN..
Me acuerdo que vi esta película en Barcelona, en un cine en versión original, fuimos a verla como actividad complementaria de nuestras clases en el Istituto Italiano di Cultura. En un principio tenía mis reservas sobre la película, dado que Roberto Benigni no me agrada especialmente, pero tengo que confesar que estaba equivocado. Es una película muy divertida, entretenida, que te sabe envolver en su atmósfera, una atmósfera de amor y comedia, de risas y llantos, de esperanzas y desilusiones, como la vida misma. La película narra la sorprendente relación que se produce entre Vittoria y Attilio, eterno rechazado que nunca se rinde, preocupándose por ella y tratando de lograr su felicidad sin nada a cambio, a quién me recordará¡. Es una buena película, bien narrada y con cierta profundidad entremezclada con los risas que nos produce la propia vida. Os la recomiendo.
In the tradidition of Roberto Benigni's movies, this one is as moving, funny, and tragic as one could imagine. Beautiful love story, mixed with the atrocities of war, and yet, the caracter portrayed by Benigni shows such a fierce desire to live and to love. I almost cried. And there is also a small appearence by Tom Waits, during the wedding scene. Very good.
Very good comedy:
the laugh will control you more than the sorrow in this movie. There is comedy, romance, sorrow and the tragedy of the wars. Jean Reno was Awsome as usual in this movie. The arabian nights. Many things will make you laugh in this movie even the camels. there is awsome peotreys in this movie!
Toda la pelicula es como una poesía!..desde q comienza!..los votos de ella son espectaculares!..me encantan las peliculas italianas porque me perece un idioma super sexy!..aunq la peli me parecio un poco parecida a La Vida Es Bella!..me pareció mucho mejor el guión!..creo q aprendí muchas cosas de ella!..definitavemente una de las mejores peliculas q se han hecho!
Well, it's a different kind of love story, with the humor, innocence and charm that only the likes of Roberto Benigni or Woody Allen could add to a movie. It's definately worth the watch, even if it doesn't reach the heights that La Vita e Bella showed. Benigni is an amazing actor, he shows a wider range in this movie, and I should give a special mention to Jean Reno in a type of role I had never seen him doing before. Very imaginative work, yet the dramatic background adds a lot to keep the story going.
Roberto Benigni's performance is undoubtedly filled with years of acting expertise yet a character may be grandiose although the storyline is awful... yes this is the case here.
I cannot really review this movie seeing as my lazy person decided it best to watch half of it because it was turning into decrepitude, with Benigni being the only worthwhile part of the movie.
Watch only if you have a never-ending thirst for foreign film experiences.
Maybe i expected more from this film.. but still, is a great movie. I got a it bore at half of the history.. but just to see Benigni doing his comic stuff is enough amusing..
Ever since Roberto Benigni had a spasm attack at the Oscars I've avoided his movies. The guy looked like a retarded fish flopping on the deck of a chum boat.

Italian movie all in subtitles...but I found it to be quite charming and unique, as well as it's hilarious moments. Roberto Benigni is so funny as the lovestruck poetry teacher that has an infatuation love for the woman in his dreams. But it is quite suprising on where he ends up which is right in the middle of the IRAQ war zone. How they managed to pull of the film and shoot this movie in this time, is beyond me. Jean Reno co-stars who makes a nice touch to the film. A charmer. ;)
Benigni is an intelligent director and he did great in this special movie. I don't know why it's not that famous around here (just 350 person have seen it till now). This movie is a lovely love story, beautifully acted and filmed. Nicoletta Braschini is really lovely and the story is so real that you start to personalize yourself as the loving man! DON'T MISS THIS MOVIE.
Très touchant, très poétiquement attachant (ça se dit ). Loin d'être aussi grandiose que La vita è bella, bien sur, mais extrêmement loin du ''pire film de l'année'' que les critiques américaines nous avait décrit.
La Tigre e la neve, c'est avant tout une formidable fable d'amour (Benigni le spécifie dans les Special Features), qui mélange avec une aise époustoufflante la comédie et le drame. Le talent poétique de Benigni m'épate, que ce soit la façon dont il raconte l'histoire ou l'histoire qu'il raconte. Dans les deux cas, j'étais sur le cul. Évidemment, ce film amène en moi un brin de nostalgie, car je me souviendrai toujours de ce jour d'école, il y a déjà 8-9 ans, lorsque ma professeur nous avait fait écouté La vita è bella. Que d'inoubliables moments. Et La Tigre e la neve ne fait qu'augmenter mon appréciation envers Benigni, que je considère comme l'un de mes idoles. Très touchant.
Another good one from Benigni! It is not as magnificent as "La vita e bella" (which is my favorite movie of all time), but it is great!
Nicoletta Braschi, Benigni and Jean Reno are great in this movie, the plot is simple, the realisation is great... and what about the music !! Marvelous...
Again, Benigni is a genius in combining humor and drama with a simple and warmful point of view!
Everything can be seen with a humoristic and yet sensitive point of view... and Benigni has proven it again!
