Great movie!!! The only thing that annoyed me is that it was so quiet and it was hard to hear, but other than that I loved it! It makes you think! During the whole movie you are trying to figure who has what purpose and it is crazy! I love all of M. Night's movies!!

What a polarity in reviews on this one amongst my friends!I don't know what that means, but it seems to me that either truly great films or truly awful ones invite this sort of extreme divisiveness.I'll leave it at that...

I loved this movie just for the simple fact that it's different. It's a fairy tale that doesn't need to have fancy dresses and tiaras or a wicked witch.

And I mean, come on. Who doesn't wanna be able to read Cereal boxes?!!! XD

Everyone who doesn't like this movie is crazy. It is an awesome movie. I think it is probably one of my favorite movies. It is suspensful but not scary and that is what I like. This movie was way different than Signs and that is what I really like. Signs was just weird but I really enjoyed watching this, and everyone who hasn't seen it should see it. It is awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bedtime story.. wow, I'd probably end up having a dream like this if it was told to me as a bedtime story. The movie itself can leave the viewer with questions, ideas, and images of what the Blue World is like.. it's certainly a story I'll tell my kids when I have them, and a movie I'll have them watch when they're old enough to understand it better. :)

Oh what a lovely bed time story, NOT. Who cares about Narfs or scroungers or whatever you call em. This was absolute dribble and found it boring and senseless. Thankgod i didnt pay any money to see this and really hope M Night says GOODNIGHT to writing anything more. Could have come up with more exciting characters after a few beers, please someone stop Hollywood from producing such utter nonsense and drain that pool!!!!!

I don't get it. Whats with all the whispering?

How does the pool connect to her world?

Why does that asian girl even bother telling him the story?

Why don't they try killing that thing?

How come everyone seems to go along with this guy as if they have nothing better to do.

    What about peoples natural skepticism?
This movie fails to take that into account.
How could he possibly convince anyone of this absurdity?

Ok I know that this is waaaaaaaaaaaaay back in the comment board, but if u don't know what a narf if. Maybe u should look it up, or listen to something that M. says about the movie. It was a bedtime story he told to HIS childern at night!!! Jeese, before u start complaining about something look it up. If you don't get this movie you may need to watch it a few times again, like most of his movies it has hidden meanings in small things. Like in the sixth sence any time a ghost was around, there was the color red. Same thing with this movie little meanings. Also about him is he wont write a movie unless he can put some kid of meaning into it, unless it can send some sort of message. Unlike most of those peaces of trash you call horror films like "Jeepers Creepers" or whatever the flip you call it. And for anyone who wants to find out more about a narf, he's putting out a childrens book about narfs. Maybe you should check it out.

i thought this movie would be really good. it looked suspenseful and original and i coudn't wait to rent it! but besides the whole blond hair thing, i really agree with tripwyre...you can't say that everyone had a purpose in this movie. it was very weird, and i thought it a bit unrealistic how everyone automatically went along with mr. heep when he told them they played an important part. i did laugh when that stupid guy who thought he knew everything about movies died. but doesn't his death kind of prove that this movie was predictable?

Ok, I usually dont post on these things but when I read tripwire's post i just had to. THE DIRECTORS DO NOT THINK WE ARE MORONS! Her hair changed colour on purpose!!! Did you not notice that before it went fully blond it started to get blond tips? The more she was out of the water the blonder she became! That's why when she initially had blond tips they disappeared when she went in the shower! Dont post on boards if you dont know what your talking about!

How can you say every character had a purpose? They were given "roles" in the stupid bullshit 'prophecy', but most of them didn't DO anything. What did "the man with no secrets" contribute? Or the "sisterhood of seven"? Absolutely nothing.

Meanwhile, Bryce Dallas Howard's hair changed colour half way through the movie from deep red to light blonde. ...we weren't supposed to notice? Haha. This movie was terrible.

I agree with Reidsoccer. This movie was one of the best movies of the year. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to go see a movie which is more than the usual standard formulaic trash. The symbolism he drew into each character, giving them a place in not only the world, but in helping her, gave the movie depth. I really enjoyed his movie, The Village, but I think Lady in the Water surpasses it. Looking forward to his next venture.

Go reidsoccer, I totally agree. This film is one of a kind and I adored everything about it. It seems no one likes anything that strays from the beaten path nowadays!
