Frankie Scarlatti returns to his hometown of Willowpoint Falls as a sucessful horror writer. The story is told in the view of young Frankie Scarlatti (Lukas Haas). the year is is 1962, Halloween, and Frankie is locked in his school's cloak closet as a school prank, not knowing th...( read more)at over the was 10 years a serial child killer has beening killing children in thier town, until Frankie sees the first ghost of the little girl who was the killers first victim who has to relive the murder over and over again. Later, the murderer returns to the closet in search of something he had lost that night, he sees Frankie there and begins to strangle him just like all of his other victims. Luckily Frankie survives, and the ghost of girl, Melissa follows Frankie asking him to help her find her mother. So Frankie, Melissa and little help from his older brother Frankie help Melissa find her mother, as well as bring her assailant to justice. The acting is also quite good, particularly from young Lukas Haas who carries the film. Katherine Helmond plays the spooky title role quite well, and Len Cariou and Alex Rocco also turn in solid performances. Lukas Haas is one of very few children who could convincingly pull off this main role, and the supporting cast was strong. Lady In White is a ghost movie which will give kids a few thrills. There are some good scares, but the story bogs down at the end, and the resolution is disappointing.

A young boy encounters the ghost of a murdered girl, resulting in his becoming the killer's next target. I must admit I really liked this film when I was younger, but 20 years on it hasn't really stood up very well. Essentially it's The Sixth Sense done in the style of The Goonie...( read more)s, and it doesn't really work. It definitely has it's moments, particularly the scenes involving the ghosts which are almost Tim Burtonesque, but the rest of the film is amateurishly directed and punctuated with particularly poor narration. The saccharine drenched family element is loaded with sentiment and stereotypes and the race message felt forced and tacked on. The last half an hour is pretty watchable, but more often than not, I found myself hitting fast forward, looking for the "good bits". I must be getting cynical in my old age!

This movie is suspenseful and supernatural enough...very good. Good family film too.

A very nostalgic and beautifully filmed ghost story with fantastic performances from the child actors. Some very scary moments.

    It was OK.Something to watch

For an independent and modest little scary flick, I liked it. But from a critical point of view, it's a cool scary story made crap.

2.5 of 5 stars for this mildy interesting movie. It is a "poor-man's" Sixth Sense (I can see dead people). The kid is pretty good, the look of the movie is good, the story a bit thin and predictable. Not really worth your time to watch.

I was expecting this movie to be more scarier than it was because the description played it up that way. I don't know why it's rated R because it really wasn't that bad. Seriously, this movie is so tame compared to other 'rated R' movies. I did enjoy Lukas Haas' performance thoug...( read more)h. The rest of the cast was alright as well. The graphics were just okay, but the score was nice. It was creepy and eerie. There were a lot of things that you could figure out easily so there weren't too many surprises. I really liked Frankie's family. Gotta love an Italian bunch. :) Good movie overall.
