Director Bruce Beresford tackled a...( read more  read more... ) similar drama in his uncompromising Breaker Morant, but here he's stuck with a script that favors the tepid story of her ne'er-do-well clemency lawyer (Rob Morrow), whose dormant conscience awakens as he champions her case. It's a well-meaning effort undercut by sentimentality (Beresford gives in to the impulse to find the sweet puppy dog behind Stone's feral street-mutt exterior) and the bad luck to come after the similarly themed but superior Dead Man Walking. Give Stone credit for the passion and conviction to make you care anyway. --Sean Axmaker

    Pues básicamente una película que denuncia, que te mete de lleno en la vida una mujer marcada por unas circunstancias a la que van a matar en unas semanas. Es muy buena aunque no llega a la calidad artística de Pena de muerte merece la pena verla. Juega mucho con los sentimientos...( read more) del espectador, le arranca las esperanzas y... Golpea varias veces hasta que entiendes por fin que la condenada no es una asesina. Que los errores se pagan caros, pero que nadie merece la muerte. Los extremos nunca son efectivos y más cuando se habla de seres humanos. Y que decir de Sharon Stone llorando por su vida, nunca la he visto más metida en su papel. El personaje de condenada requería mucho talento y Sharon ha dado la talla. No es un simple telefilm, ni otro típico producto sobre cárceles. Es una reflexión sobre la vida y la muerte llena de dramatismos en el que la justicia tiene o no razón, pero eso depende de los espectadores.

    Para terminar, aunque sean totalmente opuestas, me recordó a "Monster", aunque la película de Patty Jenkins hablaba sobre una mujer muy distinta (una prostituta que era una asesina en serie) . En las dos el grado de tristeza es tan potente que hay que verlas para saber que es lo que esa sensación que se siente..

    Esa sensación de impotencia que nos invita a pensar un rato.
