Not horrible... but certainly not Oscar worthy either.

With Shaun of the Dead paving the wave for movies such as this, of course they always compare themeselves to it. As a stand along movie, its actually really good. Worth Renting!

I knew I was going to like Last of the Living from the beginning. It did have that 28 Days Later with the hint of Dawn of the Dead feel to it. With the barren streets and the flash scenes of the city falling apart before the infestation. This movie was hilari...( read more)ous, too. A much funnier version of Shaun of the Dead. The only thing is the directer seemed like he couldn't make up his mind on if the undead should be slow moving or 28 Days Later like. I even caught a glimpse of a zombie saying "Brains", like in Return of the Living Dead. It added to the comedy of the film. I do hope they make a sequel to Last of the Living. This is low budget film that actually works.

Last of the Living is a little gem of a comedy zombie movie from New Zealand. As the zombie apocalypse is happening around them, three male friends' method of surviving is to go on the occasional raid into the town for some shopping or to watch a couple of DVDs at home. Nothing r...( read more)eally changes until they come across a female survivor (she doesn't help to olbiterate the movie like the female in I Am Legend! Stick to the novella!!) who manages to movitate them into saving the world from the zombie epidemic.

Last of the Living is a zombie movie with slow-moving (yes!) zombies obviously inspired in some respect by Shaun of the Dead and it fits nicely in to the same basket as Return of the Living Dead, Dead Snow, Braindead and the upcoming Zombieland. If you enjoy zombie comedies with slow-moving zombies then this movie is for you.

The accents were a little difficult to understand at times so you may have to rewind a few times until you catch all the dialogue (and that's coming from a Brit who is quite used to hearing lots of Australasian accents!)

Oh, and be sure to watch the alternative ending on the DVD.
