Lothaire Bluteau, Patrick Goyette, Jean-Louis Millette

The year is 1952, in Quebec City. Rachel, 16, unmarried, and pregnant, works in the church. Filled with shame, she unburdens her guilt to a young priest, under the confidentiality of the confessional....( read more  read more... ) In the present year of 1989, Pierre Lamontagne has returned to Quebec to attend his father's funeral. He meets up with his adopted brother, Marc, who has begun questioning his identity and has embarked on a quest for his roots that would lead them to the Quebec of the 1950s. Past and present converge in a complex web of intrinque where the answer to the mystery lies.

    Si c'est un peu lent dans l'évolution, le rythme s'accentue au fur et à mesure que l'histoire avance. Méticuleusement réalisé par un très habile Robert Lepage, son confessional demeure extrêmement magnifique en composition et habilement mené par une intrigue fortement intelligent...( read more)e. Plus artistique et esthétique qu'autre chose, il en demeure un excellent film.

    Une belle mise en scène, et surtout un portrait du Québec tout en tension : grâce et kétainerie, religion et bar de danseuse, drogue et communion.

    robert lepage is a great director, i love all his films and plays. this one makes no exception, showing how he controls his art. great cinematography!

    Bah. C'était pas mal un ramassis des mêmes thèmes exploités dans La face cachée de la lune. Bien content de ne pas les avoir écouté dans le sens inverse.     This movie was real good, amazing use of symbolism and editing to convey its message. The whole twist was awesome too, one of the best twists ever...under your nose, yet difficult to see.

    I love the storyb too, the coherence and complexity working very well.

    Meilleur film québécois à mon avis. La réalisation est excellente et les nombreux clins d'oeils aux autres films sont très bons.
