Want to see one of those pieces of art that has inspired, pretty much, everything that came after it? A Trip to the Moon will be familiar, even if you haven't seen it. It's imagery has cropped up in adverts, music videos and , well, just about everywhere. It's a very short film a...( read more)bout some men that go to the moon. Everything about this film is truly creative, even 107 years later. From the bullet to the moon, to the fragile inhabitants. It's hard to imagine to imagine the medium, or sci-fi, being the same without it.

Probably the first motion picture with a story. Very resourceful and imaginative.

Conisdering the time and the mental situation and how everybody thinked and believed at the time this movie was made, i must say that Le Voyage Dans La Lune is one hell of an imaginative piece of art. Although very short but Georges Melies knew how to make those 11 minutes unforg...( read more)ettable. Never you will witness a funnier or more brillaint plan to go up to the moon. Very funny with a brilliant narrative script that will put a smile on your face and make you eager to see more. And the rocket in the eye of the moon was brilliant. So for everybody who is interested in viewing one of the most original cinematic masterpieces you can youtube this movie and am sure you will enjoy it.

The very first true sci-fi movie. A very genius idea at that time. Back in 1902 they had no idea on how to get to the moon, it is just a fantasy for them, but they're fantasy is a dream come true when men can really travel to the moon. They had good effects (such as the gunpowder...( read more)) considering the date of this film and the setting is brilliant. This early film should not be skipped by any sci-fi fans, because we see here the birth of it.

I loved this movie. For as simple as it is I still enjoyed watching it

The first movie ever made has lots of vision and imagination that established itself rightfully as the first sci-fi picture ever created. The sets are amazing, and of course the special effects are not Ray Harryhausen caliber(from the 50's), but thinking that this was made 100 ye...( read more)ars ago is enough proof to admire this film. The aliens turning to dust when hit was great, and the scene when the moon's eye was stucked with a space capsule in its eye has become a landmark image of cinema.

The First special effects and fantasy movie is daring, hillarious and completly hard to believe! I loved it! Again the special effects for the time are amazing even if the story is out of this world (hee hee) bad! Loved it!

Magic crystallized on film. It captures the vision of an age of unrestrained imagination before criticism had tamed the cinematographic imagination to earthly proportions. The dreamlike, almost surreal atmosphere that we nowadays judge as being naive shows the daring heights of classical sci fi. The images are haunting, and have the familiarity of a dream and connect to the imagination visually on a deep level and inspire the viewer to rethink boundaries too swiftly defined and too rigidly laid in our imaginative scope.
