Very very wierd. I liked it, but it was wierd how he walked around and demanded for people to shine his shoes. I thought it was a little scary, but the actors pulled off a teriffic movie.
wow such a gd movie the frist one is awesome but the 2nd one and the 3rd one is ok but i like the 1st one better i saw it when i was a kid so i want to see it again
oh yea theres like 6 leprechuan movies and ive seen all of them awesome=]
What a great horror flick. It has yet to be outdone by its sequels. Very memorable character in the Leprechaun. I also love that Jennifer Aniston is in it.
I caught this on the sci fi channel...talk 'bout AWFULL...they we're showing all 3 (or however many of the damned things they're are)...one was all I could stand to watch...But I have to admit it was amusing seeing a drunk leprechaun
PISSED OFF FUCKING LEPRECHAUN WANTS HIS GOLD BACK. He'll give you a stroke! He'll pogo stick you to death! He'll...he'll...hm. Get shot a lot. I swear to God the good guys unload 30 shotgun shells into him, not realizing that it doesn't seem to work. Whatever; no one ever claimed that intelligence was a hallmark of 80s horror. And this movie is a perfect example of that.
They do say that you should never take a leprechaun's pot of gold, but Dan O'Grady (Shay Duffin) made that mistake, and paid for it when the little critter came to reclaim it, took his wife's life and committed the old man to a loony home. Ten years on J.D. Redding (John Sanderford) has bought the house and invites his daughter, Tory (Anniston - yes, that one from "Friends"!), to stay with him. After meeting local hunky handyman, Nathan (Olandt - "April Fools Day"), Tory takes more of a shine to the rundown house than she initially thought she might. But there's a leprechaun around, and soon he is terrorising the unsuspecting inhabitants with hilarious limericks and his own brand of brutal murder.
I like a rubbish movie as much as the next person, but "Leprechaun" just defies belief. A killer leprechaun is a reasonably cute idea for a horror movie (in the mould of "Childs Play"), but despite the best efforts of pint-sized actor Warwick Davis ("Return of the Jedi", "Willow", Labryinth", "Harry Potter"), the whole thing is a ludicrious and unentertaining mess. The acting is obviously absymal (the double act of overweight simpleton, Ozzie, and his irritating 12-going-on-30-year-old friend, Alex, is painful), the direction is about as thoughtful and exciting as you might expect (ie "not very") and the script is desperately lacking in humour or imaginiative twists. Mark Jones has not gone on to create a storm in the world of directing (unless you count the carbon-copy idea, "Rumpelstilkskin" from 1996) and it is no surprise.
Stay clear of this. Only point of interest is the pre-"Friends" Jennifer Anniston. Just goes to show you that stars can come from the most unlikely places.
If you like tongue-in-cheek,so bad their good movies then this is the crop of the corn!It has some moments that will have you laughing hysterically,Warwick Davis spits out the one-liners like a pro.My only complaint is that a couple of the main characters should have been killed.BTW,check out Jennifer Aniston's HUGE cell-phone,it looks as if it weighed 20 ibs!!!
At least it makes me laugh... but it's so bad. It's hard to tell if this movie is actually taking itself seriously but... judging by the death by pogo stick moment I would seriously hope not.
gotta love these 80s/90s horrors, purely for the fact they are just so cheesy and never take themselves seriously. For that reason Aniston fits right in. A film that matches her ability to act.
I forgot how funny this film was, you know... having Jennifer Aniston in it and... a leprechaun.
but the humor is right on and the effects are pretty good as well. its not too overly gorey and its not so ridiculous that it doesn't make sense.
I haven't seen the sequels so I don't know if there's more back story to the Leprechaun, but I know the beginning always used to scare the crap out of me, when you see the Leprechaun's eyes in the suitcase, and Warwick Davis plays a damn creepy little monster.
The music is very fitting and altogether I think it was quite entertaining.
If that's what your looking for, in depth plot and acting is not what you should look for in this film.
Ozzie and Alex were my favorite characters by far though, really cute and funny.
Loved it.
But I do hate that they changed the cover to include Jennifer Aniston on it, what shit is that?
I thout all of the Leprechaun movie's 1, 2, & 3, 4 is kind of funny because what the Leprechaun say & rime .
call me crazzy but I like the Leprechaun he make me lol !!
Leprechaun marks the first entry in what is currently a 6 part saga. It also marks one of Jennifer Aniston's first lead acting roles.
When a man steals a pot of gold from a Leprechaun, the leprechaun does everything in its power to get it back, but ends up sealed in the basement of his house. Years later when a family moves into this house, the leprechaun is set free and he begins to terrorize as he attemps to retrieve his pot of gold.
Leprechaun is a fairly unique horror film which is probably the root cause of its success. The film doesn't really have any real scares, and the characters are pretty weak but yet there's something compelling about Leprechaun.
Genre fans will want to check it out, but if you are just looking for a one shot, there are far better entries in the series than this one.
Leprechaun is one of my biggest guilty pleasures for the horror genre. There really isn't anything NOT to love with this movie: Jennifer Aniston, a fun killer, witty one-liners, gore...it's got everything. There is no way that my rating could be any higher, because compared to movies like Citizen Kane, this is nothing.
stupid, not frightening the slightest and annoying and horrible special effects and seems out of its times...not 90s...more like late 70s appearance....
