Warning: This review is specifically written to target true Zombie fans and actual Zombies, so if you don't fit in any of the two, you might want to pass it.

HOW ON EARTH has this movie been able to remain in the shadows and underground circuits for this long? Don'...( read more)t Open the Window (aka Let Sleeping Corpses Lie, The Living Dead at Manchester Morgue or by its Italian title, Non si deve profanare il sonno dei morti) should definitely be regarded as a groundbreaking mark in the Zombie Horror genre, although it does have a fair number of devoted fans and did serve as an influence for several movies and bands. This Italian/Spanish production shot in the UK is one of the earliest gore-fest moments in the history of cinema, with the extra of actually being a well accomplished low-budget one. The movie is clearly divided in two parts, and if you go into it expecting a non-stop gore action, you might turn out to be disappointed, as the first part takes its time to develop the story.

But if you're able to see beyond that, then this definitely becomes a great Zombie experience. Atmosphere, sound (great music score), uncompromising script and shock value. It's all there, mixed in balanced parts, to create a formula which was used to shake audiences long before movies like Dawn of the Dead, Day of the Dead or Cannibal Holocaust ever did.

"I wish the dead could come back to life, you bastard, so then I could kill you again."

    Highly recommendable.

Dead people come back alive due to man's ill-advised dabbling with the natural environment. Despite the comically bad dubbing and indifferent pacing, the restrained splashes of gore and the pitch perfect atmosphere make this an entertaining watch.

Looks like I'll be double dipping a DVD yet again. A fantastic and eerie zombie film that finally is getting the acclaim it deserves. The mood is creepy and fun until the amazingly hardcore climax. This is a must see, great hero, great zombies and great fun.

A very nice looking zombie flick that tries to add an actual plot to the normal genre movie. Basically the cops dont believe two people, who met by accident and have to travel together, when they say that they seen zombies killing people (dont see why they wouldnt...) and believ...( read more)e that they have something to do with the killings instead. The investigation gets crazy since the cops are inept and the captain overacts and has some horrible lines, at one point they think the two lead characters are satanists... Anyway I say they try to create a plot did not say they were successful, however the movie does work. The zombies are well done and there are a few good scenes of body munching, which no zombie flick can do without. Has a nice feel to it overall though does seem to bog down some, but overall a good solid zombie flick from the Night of the Living Dead era.

As known as The Living Dead At The Manchester Morgue this European co-production is set mainly in The Lake District and is very gruesome at times.

Excellent, gory and thrilling Spanish-Italian-UK horror production. It's a zombie movie that is different then any of it's kind before "Dawn of the Dead" or Fulci's "Zombie" with good acting, a nice plot about chemicals being the source to zombies and gore galore including pubic ...( read more)hair ripped out bloodily.

    A must see!

This is a great film and fairly hard to find even on DVD. I bought an old VHS copy and then quickly secured the tin box set when it launched. The story flows pretty smoothly and has a nice plot twist in the end of the film. The zombies seem to have super human strength and can re...( read more)cruit other dead folk simply by touching them. The plot was certainly original and this is certainly worthy of being in a zombie fans collection.

Possibly the best film to be directly inspired by Night Of The Living Dead.
