It was interesting to see Jodie Foster in her first and only directorial debut, but overall the film was a little bit dull and boring, very slow at times. I really wanted to create empathy and interest towadrs the characters, but I wasn't fully able to do it. Nice and modest effo...( read more)rt, but I wish I could've spent my time in watching something else.

A very good story with well developed characters and fine performances, especially from Jodie Foster and Dianne Wiest. Jodie Foster's direction is quite good. A perceptive and moving film. Great pace, believably done.

I find stories of such genius? quite fascinating. Finding the balance between mental stimulation and having a ?normal? childhood for a child prodigy is a struggle.

Well told movie, cast was great. It was interesting to watch a movie about a supper smart kid trying to fit in and his mom trying to give him the most normal life as she could... and the struggles both of them faced.

i like this film. I believe a lot of freaks or extra ordinary people out there can relate to the story. Sometimes natural gifts are more of a disadvantage than an advantage. Some truths are not necessarily the common man's reality. I saw this one twice. One on VHS (1992) and...( read more) one on TV (cant remember when). It was good. Kid's acting is awesome.

Drama that just doesn't pack a lot of punch. It starts out well but dies down that is quite untrue to life in a lot of cases.

A thought provoking movie. Two sides of the effects of an extremely bright boy are shown - the side that wants acceptance and the othe side wants to excel. The two women in the story belong on one side each and neither manage to meet in the middle. A great movie.
