Childhood movies are usually the best. Although this one pretty much scarred me for most part of my growing-up. The nightmare monster... gahh. Still, the music and songs were happy stuff. And so, so very good.

I'm amazed that I had never seen this film before, but I do vaguely recall seeing the trailer on TV in 1992 when it was release nation-wide in the US. I still don't know to this day why I didn't demand to see it back then, because IMO its a fantastic film. And why not? look who have been involved with it over the long course of its production, Frank Thomas & Ollie Johnston (2 of Walt Disney's 9 old men), Ray Bradbury, Hayao Miyazaki, Osamu Dezaki, Chris Columbus, and many more. Thats an impressive crew list. Sure they didn't all stick around to see it finished because of creative difference or something like that, but their collective input really makes this film a treat. Basic story is as follows:

A young, curious, and adventurous boy, Nemo wakes one night to an invitation to visit the wondrous world of Slumberland. There he is dubbed a prince, but soon finds that his new position involves the responsibility of protecting and saving Slumberland from evils like the Nightmare King.

Based off of the turn of the century comic strip by Winsor McCay, who was a long lost animation visionary who first animated his characters in 1911! This movie made me want to go out and get the collected version of his stories (and next time I'm in Bern, I'm picking it up).

Honestly, this has to be one of the most beautifully animated films not made by Studio Ghibli or Walt Disney himself. I hope another DVD release it made soon. But until then, there are torrents for it, so.....

This is a Japanese anime film that I used to enjoy watching during my early childhood. "Little Nemo: Adventures In Slumberland" tells the tale of Nemo, who receives an invitation- and cookies (mmmm)- to go to Slumberland and play with King Morpheus' princess daughter Camille. Nemo is crowned as a Slumberland prince, and meanwhile, a Nightmare King kidnaps Morpheus, so Nemo and his friends attempt a rescue at Nightmareland. Now this is an animated title that would never get old for years to come...."Little Nemo" is all about song and dreams!

What an overlooked gem! The animation is beautiful, the story is engaging and the music by the Sherman Brothers is great! It's unfortunate that more people are not familiar with this animated film, especially with so many mediocre animated films out there. Perhaps it's all in the marketing. This film brings the classic comic to life in such a charming way. Fans of Hayao Miyazaki will especially appreciate it. If you love animation, try to track this down. It might be a little difficult to find, but well worth it!

I grew up with this movie; watching it over and over again. The uniqueness and creativity still stuns me today. definately one of the better movies based on a comic strip.

Was on rotation with FernGully as Most Watched Movie of My Childhood. I recently bought the dvd, though, and upon rewatching it's really fucking creepy. I was scared of the purple goopy stuff as a kid, but the whole movie is actually very trippy. I still love it :)

One of those movies from my childhood that have stuck with me over the years - especially the "black ooze" in the film (which scared me shitless as a kid). While it's been a long time since I've seen it, it's definitely one of my favorite animated films.

A cartoon with pajamas and flying on beds. So much fun and brings back memories. I watched it on youtube the other day, and it still has its charms even though it was a pretty quirky film.

I remember they made a game of the movie on NES. That game was hard. I was only able to get to the second stage.

The animation (and the storylines as well) in "Little Nemo" definitely reminds me of a lot of the Hayao Miyazaki anime films even though this was created by someone else (and that would be another animator) and not Miyazaki. But what the hey...."Little Nemo" is a great film, and I used to watch it when I was a little kid.

Oh....and don't confuse the film's title with "Finding Nemo", which is an unrelated animated film.
