Good to see John McClane back in one of the best actioners I've seen in years. As others reviewers have mentioned it's unrealistic but who cares about that when there's wall to wall action. I'd say this is up there with the first Die Hard movie. Highly recommended.

I usually find that if a film is made in a long stopgap from the time of its previous installment (speaking in a series of films terms here) it doesn't quite hit up to the mark. However I was surprised with Die Hard 4.0 (its title here in Europe) It has a modern day plot, with ...( read more)computers and the world of the internet fitting into the norm of the world of today, it totally makes sense. As for the acting Bruce Willis just picked up right where he left off as with John McClane not missing a beat and Justin Long and Mary Elizabeth Winstead were great in their supporting roles; not to mention Timothy Olyphant playing a great villian (I hadn't previously seen any of his other films until I saw Hitman to see how good an actor he actually is) Overall an absolutely great film in the Die Hard franchise.

    Lots of smashy-smashy =D

Wonderful return of the Die Hard series. Fun, flashy, exciting, with excellent explosions, good bad guys, and, of course, tons of quotable quips. My favorite iteration since the first Die Hard. Great way to spend a Friday night.

God, another die hard movie? Come on!! I'm getting sick of these movies. No offence Bruce Willis, you're good, but these movies are gay.

John McClane comes back and comes back stronger and tougher than ever in this intense and supremely entertaining "Die Hard" sequel. For a 50 year old Bruce Willis still has the ability to kick the crap out of any terrorist agency and he does amazingly well in this movie.

Worth the wait 100%. For a 50 year old Bruce Willis still has the ability to kick the crap out of any terrorist agency and he does amazingly well in this movie.

The acting and updated action was really something I actually applauded considering the film is one of the many long ...( read more)awaited sequels that have re-energised the Die Hard movie series. Deffinitely better than Die Hard: With a Vengeance.

When I heard that it had been made another Die hard movie I thought, it's only to make some money, but I was surprised this was actualy a good movie.

    Genre:Action,Thriller
    Year of release:2007
    Running time:122 minutes

    Plot:
NYPD Detective John McClane lives in Brooklyn, and he's now divorced from Holly Gennero, who lives in San Francisco. John has faced some brutal terrorists in his career, but now, he's about to face what may be his most dangerous enemy yet. John, who occasionally does jobs for the United States Department of Homeland Security, receives a call to bring in a hacker named Matt Farrell, because there has been a breach in an FBI computer system. Farrell is one of the many hackers who are suspected in the attack, and all known hackers are to be questioned. But after John gets to Matt's apartment, a group of men show up and try to kill John and Matt, who barely escape with their lives. As it turns out, a group of terrorists led by Thomas Gabriel are systematically shutting down the United States computer infrastructure. They crash the stock market, crippling America's economy. It turns out that Matt knows enough about hacking to know exactly how Gabriel is shutting down the USA. Gabriel, a disgraced former Department of Defense employee, plans to bring the country to its knees, but he doesn't count on John and Matt figuring out what's going on. Gabriel wants John and Matt out of the way, and for John, the situation becomes personal when an enraged Gabriel kidnaps John's daughter Lucy, who is a student at Rutgers University in New Jersey. Gabriel may think he now has the upper hand on John, but he has no idea how far John is willing to go to rescue Lucy.

Bruce Willis is back as John McClane 12 years after Die Hard with a Vengeance.Boy,it was great to see Willis in a kick ass action movie, specially a Die Hard sequel.McClane is older, crankier and bold. But he s still determined and tough as he usually is.Willis was amazing as McClane just he was in Die Hard 1 and i hope he makes more.Justin Long was so hilarious as Matt Farell. He brought a great level of comedy and he has a great chemistry with Willis.Timothy Oliphant was a decent villain as Thomas Gabriel but he is not a real bad buy like Alan Rickman as Hans Gruber.Gabriel is more a guy with anger issues.I absolutely loved Mary Elizabeth Wisntead was fantastic as Lucy McClane. She is a great mix between John and Holly.

Len Weisman did a excellent job.His direction was brilliant and well controled just like John McTiernan in the original.Weisman redefined the series once again this time for a new generation.

Live Free or Die Hard was amazing and it s one of the best action movies of 2007 along Transformers and The Bourne Ultimatum.Yippee Ki Yay,Motherfucker.

    Live Free or Die Hard
  • December 1, 2009
Better than 2 and 3, i'd say, if you ignore the impossibly easy, techy terrorists. Plus a change in plot development, usually tough when creating action sequels, esp. this being a 4th. Action sequences are brilliant!

Yes, I must see this. And the others too.
  • November 28, 2009
Wow I expected this movie to be the greatest of the Die Hard franchise, instead it sucked. At least the fourth Rambo movie out blown the other movies in it's franchise. I guess McClane is a failure like some of his fans XD.

    Rambo FTW

Live Free or Die Hard (2007)

This was a happy surprise of a Summer action movie. Where Die Hard was crooks taking over a whole building, and Die Hard 2, crooks terrorizing an airport, and Die Hard 3 where crooks were terrorizing a whole city, Die Hard 4 was crooks terrorizing t...( read more)he whole Eastern seaboard.

New York cop, John McClane (Bruce Willis) who has been stalking his daughter, Lucy (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) is called in to pick up a nearby hacker Matt Farrell (Justin Long, aka the Mac) and take him to Washington D.C. for questioning.

John is surprised to be in the middle of an assassination attempt by a large group of paramilitary types killing off all the 3rd-party hackers who have been unknowingly assisting their efforts. This group, led by X-security expert, Thomas Gabriel (Timothy Olyphant) is bent on creating a fire-sale (hacking all computers, phone lines, and utilities) where everything must go.

As usual John is hampered with the bureaucratic BS and a bunch of serious criminals bent on killing him and stealing billions. Matt follows along, helps where ever he can, and is able to offer comic relief to John's unorthodox methods of kicking the bad guy's butts.

This movie has lots of action and stunts. I could have done without the flying cars in the tunnel scene, but that helped with the fun, I guess. Also the theatrical version was PG-13. Get the unrated version DVD to hear the Yippee Ki Ya, MF.

The fourth installment into the die hard series tries to hard and in affect dies hard (if you will pardon the pun). They try to add in more spectacular stunts and explosions and mostly it works because the action is directed very well but some scenes are just stupid and if you ar...( read more)e going to take a realistic angle dont make the main character indestructible. Despite all these flaws the action works.

A good film, but no where near as good as the first three films. If this film didn't have Bruce WIllis and 'Die Hard' in the title, it maybe wouldn't be worth watching again.

Bruce doesn't miss the mark, somehow coming back into this he's just seeming to get better at it. i mean, there's less to believe as far as the high tech heisting goes in this film, but hey, it's a good 'die hard' movie.
