I am quite a big Die Hard Fan and have wanted to see this for a while. I finally got to see it and surprisingly really enjoyed it! I felt tlike it was a great spin on the story by turning it to him saving his daughter. I felt like it redeemed the Third Die Hard because he wasn't ...( read more)saving anyone in his family he was doing what any cop in his situation was doing. Any way as far a the Fourth Die Hard great flick!!! Nice way to update the Diehard movies and crazh them into the future!!!

Computer-hacking is not as cool to watch as actual gunfights. Also, you have to wonder whether any of it actually makes sense.

    Awesome!

This is one of those movies that you can expect exaggeration from the very beginning, but if its well packed like this one, then its inconspicuous.
For one more time John McClane return fighting for justice, taking down some bad guys, destroying half of the city, pulli...( read more)ng out some stuns that lot of stuntmen would probably envy, save his daughters life, made a new ally and save the day.
Bruce Willis is great actor. Only he could manage to save the day in each of his movie. Don't think I'm made fun of him, cos I ain't. I'm a big fan of Bruce Willis, but its a fact. I really can't think of anyone else who would play John McClane better than him.

Timothy Olyphant won me completely over with his very intelligent, skillful, cold, but beautifully elegant character, Thomas Gabriel. I was amazed by his performance and I never actually saw how beautiful he actually is. Of course, I saw him in Rock Star and Gone in 60 seconds, but only now did we seen his full potential.

Kevin Smith, Justin Long, Cliff Curtis as Warlock, Matt Farrell and Bowman and Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Lucy McClane brought new meaning to the movie with their colorful and very interesting characters. They are the ones that people could relate to in real life, the link between reality and exaggeration, since both John McClane and Thomas Gabriel are too good to be true. Perfect action hero and perfect villain.

Overall, I loved it. Everything... the exaggeration, the actors, the stuns, the idea... yes... I loved it all.
If u like loud, destructive action were the good guys won with difficulty and u actually find yourself feeling sorry for the villains death, then this movie is for u.

Matt Farrell: [running to a bleeding John McClane] You okay?
John McClane: [pause, panting] I'll let you know in a minute.

John McClane: I was out of bullets.
    ..........................................................................................................................
Robert Russo: [referring to Lucy] This bitch is a handful.
[Lucy punches Russo, and he slaps her back]
Thomas Gabriel: [sarcastically to Russo] Are you gonna be all right?
    [to Lucy]
Thomas Gabriel: Hey, behave, or I will hurt you.
Lucy McClane: Oh, yeah? Let's step outside, just you and me. We'll see who hurts who.
Thomas Gabriel: [smiling] You really are his daughter.

    Lucy McClane: Who are you?
    Matt Farrell: Matt Farrell.
    Lucy McClane: Lucy McClane.
Matt Farrell: I thought your name was Gennero. Lucy Gennero?
    Lucy McClane: Not today.

lots of action... Bruce Willis was fantastic...
  • August 21, 2009
very nearly brilliant, the action scenes are superb and the stunts breath taking. The cast members are suitable and of course willis is on top form as mclaine. But there are a few odd moments, mclains daughter seems like a throw in plt advancement detail rather than a thought out...( read more) planned story etc and the bad guy is less than menancing to say the least , he never really feels like any competion. regardless this is a very exciting film, it can be annpying how the patriotism and vs terrorism concept is exploited and how mcclaine has become a regular joe scmoe action hero who you now expect to win a fight with a fighter jet unlike the old likeable seemily doomed mclaine of old, but this is still better than most action flicks out there. would be nice to see cgi abandonned in some instances.

John McClane (Bruce Willis) is back in this fast paced action packed rollercoaster ride. This time around John has to face to new daring enemy named Thomas Gabriel (Timothy Olyphant) who wants to shut down the United States. Now, with the help of a computer hacker (Justin Long) by John's side, together they must stop Gabriel & save the world. This time its not so easy for John. As John & the hacker are trying to stop Gabriel's plan, Gabriel takes someone that's really close to John, his daughter Lucy McClane (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), that ticks John off that much worse about Gabriel. Now, John puts his live on the line to stop Gabriel's plan by taking out the bad guys & getting back his daughter by any means necessary.

Live free or Die Hard is my favorite out of the Die Hard trilogy. It is very entertaining filled with alot of high voltage action sequences from the start & doesn't stop till the final conclusion. The action stunts were so real which made this movie even better to watch. My favorite sequence was when John McClane blew up a hellicopter with a car & he said he was out of bullets. That was the best memorable scene of the movie I think.

Bruce Willis does another outstanding job as our hero. I just love seeing him having fun in his role which makes this film that much more enjoyable to watch. Even though this one is PG-13, Bruce still kills the bad guys in brutal violent ways. Bruce still is my favorite actor today & probably will ever be.

Timothy Olyphant who is Bruce's nemisis in this one is very dark & full of anger.I thought Timothy's character Thomas Gabriel was John McClane's worst so far because of the fact that he had the guts to take his daughter & tried to kill him. From seeing Timothy's performance in this movie, he is now officially one of my favorite actors. Timothy has the right stuff to play any character he wants. Hope to see him take on more evil roles like this.

What can I say about Justin Long, BRILLANT!!! Justin's acting ceases to improve everytime i see him star in a film. Justin almost stole his film by his intelligence. It was defenitly a shocker for me to see Justin take on a role of a computer hacker who has to have smarts into knowing waht he's doing. He defenitly pulled it off. Justin is going to very big star soon. Can't wait to see him in more movies. Most talented young actor yet.

The young a sexy Mary Elizabeth Winstead who played the daughter, Lucy. All I can say is she's on her way to a great career. Mary has a big future in the future. She also looks like she could pass for a model as one of the sexiest young actresses. Mary played her role very well & made & impact on this trilogy by portraying Bruce Willis's daughter.

Maggie Q who was Olyphant's hot asian operator/assassin made her character believable enough. Maggie is the first asian actress that can actually act. I just loved watching her kick John's butt & listening to her sexy accent. Maggie should pass for a model too. Hope to see her in more films such as action like this one. Maggie is one my favorite actresses that has come so far as a good actress. Hope she keeps up the good work showing her acting & looks off in films in the furture.

If you haven't seen this movie yet, go out & grab yourself a copy on dvd because its a must own. They have an Unrated & Theactrical Version. The Unrated one is the best because it has alot of scenes that wern't shown in the original. Trust me this movie is worth buying & adding to your DVD collection. It's the best Die Hard yet.

    John McClane: "Yippi-kay-ay, motherfu - "

John McClane: I'm going to go kill this guy & get my daughter or go get my daughter & kill this guy, kill all of them.

John McClane: Mai? Oh, yeah. Little Asian chick, likes to kick people? I don't think she's gonna be talkin' to anybody for a really long time. Last time I saw her she was at the bottom of a elevator shaft with an SUV rammed up her ass.

John McClane: Yeah, you had to dispatch all units for all the naked people walkin' around?

John McClane: I know I'm not as smart as you guys with all this computer shit. But, hey... I'm still alive, ain't I? I mean, you've *got* to be running out of bad guys by now, right? Huh? Gabriel? Honestly, you can tell me. I mean, how does that work? Got some kind of service or something? Some kind of 800 number? 1-800-HENCHMEN? Oh, you know what? I bet you're still on hold with, "Can I get another dead Asian hooker bitch over here right away?"

John McClane: I could come and find you, kick your ass and throw you out of your own party. What do you think about that, dickhead?

thoroughly enjoyed this movie by the time the credits started rolling! I was like the other skeptics. "PG-13??? YIPPIE KAY YAY MOTHER-FATHER?" If you go into this movie knowing it's not going to be Nakatomi Tower, or With a Vengeance, you can save yourself a lot of whining. Die H...( read more)ard 2, to the fans, was not a very good movie. THIS ONE makes up for it! There's wasn't much potty language, but realistically, I don't think anybody had any time to drop any F-bombs on account of them having to constantly dodge the real ones. At first the dynamic between McClane and the Mac Geek seems a little "ah here we go again, clash of the generations", and it doesn't seem like a real Die Hard movie until about 30 minutes into it, but once we start recognizing Shoe-less John, a lot of that goes away! The hacker stuff seems to get sort of hokey, at times, but a lot of Die Hard fans won't have trouble letting that slide since John couldn't be bothered with it; he's too busy kickin' ass and takin' names! The action scenes keep you on the edge of your seat at all times. This is definitely the next level of action flicks (best since Casino Royale). Some of the blows McClane delivers are so intense, even Chester A. Arthur felt them.

There's no rehashing of old characters to forcefully remind you it's a Die Hard flick. That means no Sgt. Al Powell, no Zeus, no Holly Gennero side story, no Inspector Cobb, hell, not even a Gruber family member! Also, there's no jurisdictional cliché argument he had with the LA cop or Airport Cop from the sequel we all like to pretend never happened.

Trust me, by the time he says "Yippie Kay Yay..." your jaw will drop! A MUST SEE for Die Hard fans!

Awesome awesome awesome movie/sequel. Looks like movie sequels are getting better, and often times surpassing the older ones more often in these recent years. It's more of the exciting suspense and edge of your seat action we've all grown accustomed to in this series. I love some...( read more) of the lines, such as when Bruce Willis pulls off an unbelievable stunt to take down a helicopter, and then his partner asks why he did that and Willis replies, "I was out of bullets."
