Longinus is a short science fiction film from director Ryuhei Kitamura.
Much like the brief 35 minute run time, 40 minutes with the credits, the story is short on the whys, hows, wheres, etc. Still, there is enough going on to keep the suspense up. The dialogue explains just enough without going overboard, however this will disappoint some that are looking for answers to everything. There are many elements in this picture that just happen and this isn't surprising, since a short film isn't always able to provide every detail.

The action is pretty limited, especially for a Kitamura flick. Nearly all of it shows up at the end and there is nothing extraordinary about any of it either. Still, that doesn't mean that it sucks.

The lead, Atsushi Sakurai, has the look for this film, but his acting is just OK. As for the supporting cast, they are good, as most of the actors are recognizable from Kitamura's previous films.

When it comes down to it, Longinus is a quick watch for fans of Kitamura's previous works.
