Truth or Dare is an outrageous, insightful, carefully controlled and (to non-fans) overlong documentary of singer Madonna's 1990 Blonde Ambition tour. Though much of the film is a paean to self-love and self-aggrandizement, we are permitted to see Madonna at her worst as well as her best. Just when… More

Critic Reviews

  • Matt Brunson, Creative Loafing

Much of the supposedly raw material feels calculated, but several off-the-cuff moments are ingratiating -- the backstage meeting between Madonna and Kevin Costner, who deems her show "neat," is priceless.

  • Steve Crum, Video-Reviewmaster.com

Revealing for those who which to revel in Madonna's visage.

  • Emanuel Levy, EmanuelLevy.Com

Stylish, vastly entertaining but not particularly deep or revelatory of the "real" Madonna, docu centers on her Blond Ambition tour with some interesting glimpses about life offstage.

  • Clint Morris, Moviehole

    Just try and resist it

  • Michael A. Smith, Nolan's Pop Culture Review

Not to quote Kevin Costner, but this movie is "neat."

Fascinating behind-the-scenes documentary of Madonna. Absorbing stuff, whether you like her or not.

As many others have said, Warren Beatty steals the show with his comments about Madonna "not wanting to live off camera". Love her or hate her, this is still an interesting look inside Madonna's life.

If this were a sandwich you were served in a restaurant you'd have to send it back because there is too much turd on it. After someone dragged me to see this at the theater no less, I spent most of my time playing the pinball machine in the lobby.
