  Malice begins as a routine drama with some thriller elements thrown into it. Overall the film has a interesting idea but it is all lost in Aaron Sorkin's and Scott Frank's muddled script that is so full of pointless sideplots and twists that it ends up being highly unconvincing and over the top. Where director Harold Becker succeeds is in building an atmosphere which does have nice feel of mystery around it. Extra points come also from Jerry Goldsmith's gorgeous score and the cinematography by legendary Gordon Willis is nice to look at with all the noirish use of shadows. These technical elements still cannot take away the fact that Malice ends up being all too familiar, cliched and below the average thriller that were made loads back in the 90's. There is not much to say about actors here also. While Nicole Kidman, Bill Pullman, Anne Bancroft and Alec Baldwin are the film's biggest names, they cannot bring anything that special into this film. Their performances feel mostly flat and indifferent. Only Baldwin wakes up occasionally. Becker is often solid director but Malice is not one of his best moments as a director.

  Lots of plot twists and turns. I liked it. Nicole Kidman is great. It's quite a ride, and takes some unbelievable jumps in logic.

  Quite dumb. This was the Alec Baldwin that was out there before he got older and actually made an effort to act. This is the young one that you hated. Remember? The annoying personality would always leak into any character that he portrayed at that time.

  Just watched this one again and it is not as good as I remember. It was filmed near my hometown in Western Massachusetts. Bill Pullman is pretty good in this and so is both Kidman and Baldwin. The twist in the movie is now just okay but may have been good the first time I saw this. Not a believable relationship between Pullman and Kidman though. Good cameo from George C Scott but the best one is the late Anne Bancroft who plays the bitter mother and is only in the movie a few minutes but it is great acting. In all an okay suspense storyline but not the best movie. Hated Bebe Neuwirth in this one.

  Much to my surprise, after waiting years to see it and finally caving because it has both Pullman and Baldwin in it, I really enjoyed this potboiler. It's a lot of fun with some great twists.
