A totally enjoyable cinematic experience. Sit back, relax and enjoy the ABBA songs. While I think the director could have shown the dancing better, this was one of thos efeel good movies that there needs to be more of. It is obvious that everybody was having a ball during filming.
i love this movie. Meryl can really sing wonderfully and it seems that she was enjoying doing this. Pierce is not bad like the other critics wrote. He tried to sing and did well. this is stress relief
It was pretty good, it was just too upbeat at times though. I got a little annoyed, and bored sometimes. Pierce Brosnan scared me when he started singing. :D! I can remember him as James Bond, a real masculine guy, but in this he was really flamboyant. lol. I LOVED the scenery in Greece and I loved the naturalness of the characters. Like, the main girl didn't need a bunch of make-up and designer outfits to be beautiful. Overall, I would say this was good, but I could've passed.
Ok, I have mixed feelings on musicals. HS Musical, HATE IT, and DreamGirls was like being in the Twilight Zone, BUT Grease, and West Side Story give me reson to believe that there may be hope for this one
Eh. It was kind of...crap. Like, the story line just sucked. Pierce Brosnan is a laughing stock. I'm scandalized that they made a pristine austen actor like Firth GAY. But the music was fantastic.
Fans of ABBA and of the Broadway musical will fall in love with this movie version of the play. An all star cast will have you singing and dancing your way down the aisle with laughter. A must see!!!!!!!!!
I saw the Trailer. NAAAWWW THANKS. It is a Musical thingy. Would have been great to see Pierce Brosnan without that Cheesy James Bond Tuxedo, but saw he is singing in the Movie? Terrible!!

Mama Mia is a joyful fun filled gentle movie that doesn't have any violence the dancing is superb music to die for 3 men who get along without killing each other. the singing is great and everybody had a blast making it the only complaint i had was that i couldn't get up and dance in the theater everybody go see it it's the feel good movie for the summer
not really my sort of film however i still enjoyed it. if you like musicals then you will love this romantic comedy. i thought julie walters was fantastic.
I love ABBA. One of my alltime favorite groups. But, I hate to say this movie stunk! A waste of excellent talent Meryl Streep and Pierce. How can Meryl choose this movie after her performance of a lifetime in Devil Wears Prada?
The storyline was stupid - daughter invites 3 men to her wedding that could each have been her true biological father. When her mom finds out - then the surprises start but I think you can guess the rest!
I enjoyed this movie way more than I thought I would. But, it still wasnt my cup of tea. Way too much singing and it was soo cheesy and camp. Why Pierce Why?
After having seen the stage production, and hearing and seeing all of the hype for the movie, I was a bit disappointed by this flick. There were some bright spots.
All of the female leads and co-stars did very well, singing and acting. Merryl Streep ... what can you say? There's not a role I've seen her in yet that she's not able to pull-off, even the somewhat whacked-out former hippy mom that she plays in this film. And the lady can sing! Give her props for that.
The guys ... well ... let's just say Pierce Brosnan should NOT sing, ever, ever again. At least not in public. The male characters were largely dismissable, although the groom-to-be was pretty cute, and had a decent voice.
All things said and done, this is one that I'd recommend if you can catch it at a matinee where you're not having to pay $9-10 to see it. Or if you're just dying to get your ABBA fix. Otherwise, just wait til it comes out on disc.
theres no need to pay for the torture of seeing this. my friends really hated me for taking them, thought they were going to kill me after the first song started causing our eardrums inncurrable pain
It was a really good musical, but that's about it. As a movie, it could have done better. So, if you go to this musical expecting a movie, you'll probably be a bit dissappointed. However, if you go expecting a musical, you might just love it.
utterly amazing i can't fault it. (except for making colin firth gay, i men he's Mr Darcy). Made you wanna get up and dance and sing. terrific performances all round!

OMFG this movie was overdone....it was trying to hard to be funny and just ended up being creepy *shudders*....other than that it was funny and loved the ending....although i wish Harry didnt turn out to be gay *shudders again*
This was such a wonderful surprise, and it's a love story and musical that leaves you wanting to dance and go out and buy the collected hits of Abba, just so you can dance to the tunes of their disco music. It was really wonderful, and Meryl Streep is just wonderful. You can feel throughout the whole of the movie how much fun all of the cast had making the movie at that small island somewhere in Greece. You can even enjoy the singing, and trust me, you'll survive Pierce Brosnan's attempt at crocodile tears while singing a sad song. He has to believe he did a good job, because he should never try to sing again, even though he can slighty hold the tune ;D
Watch it, and watch it again, and again. It'll be an experience!
Absolutely adorable and cheering movie! So full of positive energy, good humour and heartfelt acting. A great summe rmovie but especially recommendable for dark and angsty autumn/winter times. If this fails to cheer you up even a little bit you really should get worried, I say. This ought to entertain anyone with a heart and sense of humour.
Loving this full time. Everyone should see this film even if not liking Abba's music!
