    I thought it was quirky and cute... I thought Steve Zahn was very endearing too. It was pretty okay in my book.

    Silly, light, repeatable, happy: all the elements that make this yet another romantic comedy in the pile. There's nothing original or different about it, it begins slightly awkward and slow, the romance between the characters is somewhat unbelievable, the coincidences are too con...( read more)venient and it's overall a movie that unless you're a major fan of the kind, or just looking to kill time, you shouldn't watch it.

    By no means will this be the most successful movie o...( read more)f any given time period, genre, or actor in it, but that has no bearing on the actual content of the film. Jennifer Aniston plays Sue, the equivalent of the modern "frigid bitch". So entrenched with her crappy job (a clever statement in and of itself; selling bland corporate art), she has completely forgotten to even search for happiness of fulfillment in her life. Through a business trip she meets an unlikely Steve Zahn, who's the night manager of his parents' motel. He's certainly a man-child at this point, and through awkward,an uncomfortable dialogue Aniston allows him to feel her butt. Although the action of the scene is seemingly sexual, the tone of it and of the film are completely emotional. What's essential to grasp the film is the sense of desperation these two have, and after each awkward and unsuccessful interaction there's a moment where they both pause, rethink the events, consider facing each other again, and give up only to immediately regret it. None of it's spoken (which may confuse some viewers), but it's what drives the romance throughout the film; the fact that, although Aniston's in no way in touch with her emotions and Zahn is not the brightest, there is something alluring there that keeps them in contact and changes them both.

    I think people sell its subtly short, but if you're willing to think for yourself, you may enjoy it. It has all the quirk and humor one expects from a good indie.

Sue Claussen (Jennifer Aniston) adalah seorang wanita karir yang kebetulan mengi...( read more)nap di hotel milik ibu Mike. Berbagai cara digunakan Mike untuk menarik perhatian Sue. Tak ada yang luar biasa dari plot cerita, bahkan cenderung agak lamban. Tapi entah kenapa gue agak tertarik dengan esensinya yang sedikit menggelitik. So, jangan protes ya kalau gue lebih fokus menceritakan film ini yang udah dicampuraduk dengan opini gue. Moral of the story, cintai dengan tulus tanpa syarat. Sambil berharap someday ada pria lugu yang mencintai diri gue secara total yang sama sekali nggak ngelirik perempuan lain, just like Mike.

    Mike melakukan pendekatan dengan cara yang lumayan mengganggu. Berturut-turut ia membawakan minuman ke kamar Sue seolah-olah compliment dari hotel. Saat-saat terakhir Sue akan meninggalkan kota tersebut, mereka pun sempat melakukan casual sex di ruang housekeeping. Ternyata momen itu begitu membekas di hati Mike. Dengan uang tabungan yang pas-pasan dia pun menyusul ke kota tempat Sue tinggal dengan hanya membeli tiket sekali jalan. Untungnya Sue bersedia menampung, walaupun tidak diijinkan untuk tidur di kasur yang sama. Sebenarnya adegan dapat dibuat lebih mengharukan dan romantis lagi saat Mike mengamati wajah Sue yang masih tidur di pagi hari. Tapi ya.. sayang, akting Mike yang selama ini cenderung jadi orang jahil kurang bisa mengekspresikan keromantisan momen tersebut. Sue akhirnya membelikan tiket pulang untuk Mike, karena dia merasa tak mungkin Mike terus tinggal di kota tempatnya berada.

    Tiba-tiba Sue kembali ke penginapan milik ibu Mike untuk urusan kerja. Mike pun antusias dan mengenalkan Sue pada ibunya. Sang ibu menyukai Sue, dan merasa Sue orang yang tepat untuk mengurus Mike jika sang ibu meninggal nanti. Sayang, Sue merasa dia belum siap untuk hubungan dengan orang seperti Mike. Walaupun terlihat sedikit percikan-percikan ketertarikan saat melihat foto-foto masa kecil Mike.

    Setelah ibu Mike meninggal, Mike pun memutuskan kembali menyusul Sue. Ternyata Sue sudah berhenti bekerja, karena ikut dengan pacar lamanya ke kota lain. Pantang menyerah, Mike pun menyusul Sue. Namun kenyataan pahit harus diterima Mike, karena Sue sudah akan menikahi mantan pacarnya karena terlanjur hamil. Menyedihkan ya.. gue sebel aja semua jadi berantakan gara-gara ada yang hamil. Gue kayak ngerasain kekecewaan Mike yang terpaksa harus ngalah, ngerelain Sue untuk Jango (Woody Harrelson) yang jelas-jelas nggak terlihat mencintai Sue benar-benar. Seperti jebakan untuk nikah. Duh jadi inget monyet hamil.

    Teman baru Mike, Al (James Hiroyuki Liao) berusaha menghibur kekecewaan Mike dengan ide-ide nyleneh. Salah satunya adalah dengan mengajak Mike untuk menjadi biksu Buddha, duh gue banget sih. Gue dulu sempat cari-cari wihara dan berniat jadi biksu setelah tahu kalau orang yang gue sayang terpaksa harus terikat sama monyet hamil karena sempat mengkhianati gue. Tapi akhirnya Mike kembali ke asalnya semula, walaupun sudah terjadi perubahan baik dalam dirinya. Ayahnya yang menyadari hal itu pun memutuskan untuk menyerahkan hotel menjadi milik Mike.

    Di sisi lain, ternyata Sue mengambil langkah tepat dengan meninggalkan Jango, walaupun masih dalam kondisi hamil besar. Yippie, gue suka banget nih endingnya. Kehamilan jangan dijadikan alasan untuk tetap mempertahankan hubungan yang palsu deh. Toh Mike sudah bersedia menerima Sue, walaupun tahu anak yang dikandung Sue itu bukan milik Mike. Dan layaknya film Hollywood yang hampir selalu happy ending. Ketika Mike mengetahui Sue dan Jango sudah pisah, ia pun segera menyusul Sue. Kelihatan agak matre sih, waktu Sue akhirnya mau untuk mendampingi Mike mengelola hotel miliknya. Hmm seandainya gue bisa mendadak kaya seperti Mike, kira-kira si kambing itu mau nggak ya hidup sama gue dan ninggalin monyet?

    He he he.. ini adalah resensi terburuk yang pernah gue buat. Emosi gemblung dengan kode-kode nggak jelas yang mencampuradukkan masalah pribadi dengan film. Untung gue sendiri bisa mentertawakan tulisan ini? Semua boleh protes, wong emang tulisan gue kali ini jelek banget kok. Wajarlah, filmnya juga jelek kok? Tapi gue mauuuu sama cinta mutlak kayak cintanya Mike ini? Saran gue satu, Steve Zahn, mending balik lagi deh jadi aktor komedi kasar, gak pas banget kayaknya untuk berperan jadi cowo romantis yang mencintai seseorang dengan begitu lugunya.. akting Jennifer Aniston juga terlihat gak maksimal, pantes saja film ini tidak terlalu booming.

    I really liked it. Very different from other romance comedies I have see...( read more)n. Steve Zahn is a favorite of mine, I think he's hilarious. He knows how to be funny without trying so hard. Thought the movie was little quirky and very sweet. Good little love story.

    Strange comedy drama with foolish characters. Steve Zahn basically plays a stalker and Aniston is supposed to just take this in stride. Additionally the two of them have no chemistry. A shame since Zahn is usually so appealing.

    Dragging at first. I spent a good part of the movie wondering why she let's him tag along. I have to admit the ending won me over though.
