The setting definitely adds to the mood, but that's really the only thing going for this movie. I was expecting more from a Marvel film, but, then again, I don't like gory horror movies (which I didn't know this was gonna' be). I coulda' done w/o the sex scene at the beginning, too.

Of all the recent out-pouring of Marvel comic characters to make it to the big screen, this is by far my biggest disappointment...and it's a shame too really. This COULD HAVE been a good movie if the makers of the film had actually read a "Man-Thing" comic. An interesting and sym...( read more)pathetic character in the comics is now nothing more than another "B"-movie monster that kills indescriminately. A shame! :(

I am a fan of the Man Thing comics but this movie was a real disappointment. It seemed they strung the story and the movie way to fast. Plus you really don't see Man Thing in the movie. They could have done so much more for this character.

If you thought that Daredevil, Fantastic 4 or Ghost Rider were bad movies made from Marvel comics you really haven't seen anything yet. I don't know that much about the comic book version of Swamp...er, Man-Thing but from what little I've read online he wasn't the bastard son of...( read more) the Jolly Green Giant and Jason Voorhees. This movie was just a bad direct to video horror movie that isn't even quite a slasher. Here's the plot, evil dude starts drilling for oil in the swamp, pisses off the indian guardian spirit which happens to be Man-Thing, Man-Thing kills everyone he sees. The new sheriff in town puts an end to the madness and about half an hour before the movie ends starts making out with the only female that shows up for no real apparent reason. The characters in this movie were less developed than a 6 year old girls chest. The overall plot was boring, and the mindless killing action was boring. Oh, and a personal favorite of mine when it comes to direct to video horror movies, every other word in the script was an expletive. This just made all other comic book movies look a whole lot better, even Superman 4.

What an incredible waste of film. Awful. Just utterly detestable and worthless. Poorly written, poorly acted and poorly shot. It's just a crappy movie with few, if any charms.
