Critic Reviews from Rotten Tomatoes

"It's no masterpiece, but I found it consistently good-hearted and sometimes hilarious, and the sparse crowd I saw it with was laughing as much as I was, especially at the outrageous rap numbers."
‑ Jonathan Rosenbaum, Chicago Reader
"A talent-stuffed assemblage of barbs and giddy musical numbers that shouldn't be written off as a feature flop -- but savored instead for the cult-ready collection of late-night satirical skits and misses it is."
‑ Lisa Schwarzbaum, Entertainment Weekly
"Seemingly endless movie."
‑ Nell Minow, Common Sense Media
"A sketch comedy that misses more than it hits."
‑ Ed Gonzalez, Slant Magazine
"A more blithe display of astonishingly clueless anti-Semitism, racism, homophobia, and sheer bad taste has not been seen since probably ever."
‑ MaryAnn Johanson, Flick Filosopher
"If the context of Marci X were more realistic, a lot of these gags would soar. But the context is drag-show dinner theater."
‑ David Edelstein, Slate
"Sports woefully outmoded cultural punchlines."
‑ Jon Caramanica, Village Voice
"Marci X is the kind of terrible movie I'm almost glad I've seen, because this decade probably won't bring a worse movie than this."
‑ Rob Gonsalves,
"Como algum est˙dio p˘de aprovar este roteiro? Como os atores aceitaram participar do projeto? Como este conseguiu ser lanšado? Como Benjamin pode ser chamado de 'cineasta'?"
‑ Pablo Villaca, Cinema em Cena
"Draw a big red "X" through this one."
‑ Linda Cook, Quad City Times (Davenport, IA)
"A movie apparently determined to set back the progress of blacks in American culture by several decades."
‑ Scott Foundas, L.A. Weekly
"The term 'wildly uneven' doesn't come close to charting the peaks and valleys of Marci X."
‑ Joe Leydon, Variety
"It's the kind of movie that Mel Brooks used to make, warts and all."
‑ Walter Chaw, Film Freak Central
"Suggests a sort of Judeo-Nubian alliance that would supposedly make uptight WASP's quake with fear. I think."
‑ Stephen Himes, Film Snobs
"The fatal flaw of Marci X is its complete and total disconnect from the contemporary zeitgeist of hip-hop culture in American society."
‑ Tim Cogshell, Boxoffice Magazine
