Seagal in his typical "good guy cleaning up the streets from drugs" role, but this time it's against Jamaicans. Not his best role, this movie is disappointing and even throws in a twin brother for good (?) measure. It's unlike Seagal's other movies around this time, but not as bad as his later ones. Nice to see Keith David in this, though. He's an incredibly underrated actor.
some mafiosi says that Seagal can't kill him because he's a made man. Seagal kills him anyway and says, "God made men." Either that doesn't make any sense or Seagal works on a plane that's just too Enlightened for me.
ok, it's time for some nostalgic mindless action movies and steven seagal fits the bill with his trademark limbsnapping and witless acting. this is more like a 2.5 star movie but it gets the extra star for having a jamaican badguy named screwface.
The best Steven segaul film I have ever watched. Out of all his movies that one has the best story and good actors through the whole thing. It will keep you interested through the whole movie.
Steve, sorry, John takes on a Jamaican drugs posse with a nice line in voodoo, after they foolishly target his family. Have these people not seen his previous films? Will they never learn? This one's not quite as playful as Hard to Kill but it does feature some serious bone crunching violence.
Fat Steve Bizarre Coat Rating (FSBCR):
Now we're talking! A black quilted/padded thing and a black jacket with twin dragons on the front and a tiger on the back, plus a jaunty black scarf. 3/5.
This time Mr Seagal takes on the occult. After a undercover drug bust goes wrong (and he happens to kill everyone in the room) Mr Seagal decides to retire. But when the movie's director decides to give Jamaican's a bad name and have a evil group of them terrorise Seagal's family then it get serious and he decides to bring down their leaders. The only problem is he's also up against a craaaazy voodoo master. Still Seagal's early action stuff is the best for watching him kick the crap out of people, and even though he did this the movie still lacked a lot. The best fight scene comes shortly after the giant car chase, levelling off the action towards the end. Also the demise of both bad guy's is kinda "slap dash" and it feels like the whole movie was working to a timeline. Even though Mr Seagal is already beginning to fall into flab the movie is quite stylish and cruises on Seagal's natural charisma (and gratuitously violent) so not a bad type of "guy movie." A good watch.
