It unfolds slowly, with realistic but often no cinematic purpose. As the last quarter of the film approaches, it regains its cinematic credentials and regains a tense, anxious air.

February 10, 2007The film was released only four months after the Apollo 11 moon landing and is clearly tied to the topical public fascination with the event. The film does its best to depict the actual Apollo space program in a realistic fashion. It won the Academy Award for Visual Effects.
