I'm not a big fan of dramas but when you find a good one it just has a great way of engrossing you into the story. This is one of those films, well directed, great cast with an interesting story of greed, betrayal and desperation. A very entertaining film.

Brilliant. This blew me away with its commentaries on society, intrigue, scandal, and the power of few affecting many. Excellent performances, original plot. Stunning.

I just saw Match Point and it's brilliant. And, needless to say, has great performances. Rhys-Meyers and Johansson being the obvious stand-outs. It's immediately involving, has lot's of edge of your seat stuff and has several great twists, all of which are perfectly plausible. Th...( read more)is film was masterfully executed. I reserved one star because it is a bit slow in a couple of places though the film as a whole more than compensates for this.

This very cleverly constructed Woody Allen film jumps from social climber story over love drama to ice cold thriller really perfectly and still flows really evenly. The scenes are short and to the point, some events may be happening a little too fast but the plot is carried at an...( read more)y time by an excellent cast, especially Rhys-Meyers and Johansson are very convincing. The audience can't help but watch how the noose keeps closing around the main character's neck and yet the movie always comes up with new turns and a pretty unusual ending. For someone who was never much of a fan of Allen's comedies, consider me impressed.

First of all, the movie have captured very nice scenes of The Great Britain. i like it. Those opera as background are fantastic!

Is this Jonathan Rhys Meyers best performance to date? I wonder...

    imdb.com trivias:

    # This is Woody Allen's first film to be shot entirely in Britain.

    # At 124 minutes, this is Woody Allen's longest film to date.

    # Kate Winslet was originally cast in this film as Nola Rice, but backed out in order to spend more time with her family. Since this was filmed in England Woody Allen had to have a certain percentage of an English cast and crew, apparently he made his quota before casting Winslet, after she dropped out Woody cast American actress Scarlett Johansson.

    # The film was shown out of competition at the 2005 Cannes Film Festival.

    # The musical they see midway through the movie is Andrew Lloyd Webber's "The Woman In White".

    # Woody Allen's first film in 19 years to make a profit in America, following 21 films that haven't. (The last was Hannah and Her Sisters (1986))

Woody Allen's favourite film of his own.

Brilliant [to be said in a voice as British-sounding as possible].
