This movie is alot of fun, mel gibson is a fast gunslinger who always misses ( but he's fast ). Not an amazing movie but it seems enjoyable for everyone
An immensely entertaining film. Once again, I would just like to point out that I LOVE period films. Anyway, for me, this another movie that despite it's obviously shallow premise (A movie completely about gambling? Please...), still manages to ultimately win the audience over with such great story structure and progression. On a personal note, I would've never thought that Jodie Foster could play "roles" such as the one she portrayed in this movie. But, kudos to her for doing such a good job. Too bad I never saw her take on roles like this again.
Mel Gibson stars alongside Jodi Foster and Burt Reynolds in this comedy remake of the classic tv series about gambler cowboy Bret Maverick actually alot of fun to watch..
I'm quite fond of this movie. I'm not sure if it's the cast chemistry, the fun script or the somewhat subtle wit, but somehow it just really appeals to me.
classic omg jodie foster is amazing in this movie shows how powerful women can be mel and james step back! lol the scene where they're drinking in the tubs n too trashed to get out n stop her from taking the money outta his boots, classic
A cute movie with Mel Gibson in a role he was born to play: a smart, funny, quick-talking card genius. Jodie Foster was pretty good, too. My favorite scene is when Maverick is telling his (perfectly civilized and English-speaking) Native American friends what to do in order to scare the white man. Classic!
:0DDD one of my favorites.
i realized that every time i watch it, it gets better and better. and, although it happens with all my favorite movies, with this one l.l the thing's getting serious: i'm actually getting to memorize the dialogues... O_O
This movie was well made and funny the chemistry between Mel and Jodie is so great which leads to some real great comedy ! James Garner who playe d Maverick in the tv show was great as a sheriff many twist s and turns but great combo of action and comedy!
Ever since seeing this comical Western, I've refered to pulling the right card as "pulling a Maverick." One of the only Westerns I've seen next to segments of Lonesome Dove, so I don't have much to compare to.
A fun, campy adaptation of a fun, campy TV show. One of my favorites as a kid, and I think it still holds up really well. I even liked Jodie Foster, for once.
