Irene P. Waters: Does your ass feel swollen.
Charlie Baileygates: [referring to his pills] No. But it can give you unbelievable cotton-mouth.
Irene P. Waters: I meant from the ride.
Charlie Baileygates: Oh. Oh, yeah. Over the years my ass has taken a pounding.

Jim Carrey and th...( read more)e Farrelly Brothers team up again for another crude, vulgar, and sweet natured comedy.

Carrey is Charlie Baileygates, a Rhode Island cop who was unfortunately left by his wife, due to cheating on another man. She left him with their three black children, but Charlie just took it inside.

Years later, his children have grown up and become extremely smart due to their genes, but also very crude, due to watching vulgar standup comedies for years as well.

Charlie meanwhile has become a big pushover, until one day he snaps, developing a split personality known as Hank.

Meanwhile, a woman, Renee Zellweger, has been brought into custody on some charges, only to be wanted for more than what she's been brought in for.

Eventually, she and Charlie team up trying to find a way out of trouble, problem is the pills Charlie had to keep Hank away are gone, so he continues to switch back and forth.

When Carrey goes between Charlie and Hank, it shows how much great talent that he has. Especially in the later act of the film, when he is going all wild, back and forth. It's the kind of thing that shows why comedies can require more effort than dramas at times.

Does this mean it's a great movie? No, the plot is fairly thin, but this is just a vehicle for Carrey to be funny, and he succeeds.

His sons are also hilarious in every scene they are in.

The movie also continues the sweetness seen in all the Farrelly Brothers' movies. There's are some random throwaway lines Charlie has with his kids that are funny, but you can just tell he means it as his character.

There is also a nice alternative soundtrack to pull this all together.

Hank Evans: Vagiclean," huh? What's the matter, honey? Little extra cheese on the taco?
    Mrs. Bittman: Excuse me?
Hank Evans: No, excuse me. There's no tag on this.
    [grabs microphone]
Hank Evans: Price check on Vagiclean, aisle five. I repeat: price check on Vagiclean, aisle five. That's Vagiclean. We've got a customer down here with a full-on fallopian fungus. She's baking a loaf of bread and I think it's sourdough.

Maybe one of his best works in my opinion. But that's like saying saying falling halfway down a flight of stairs is pretty impressive for a quadraplegic falling down stairs.
