Aoba Kawai, Issei Takahashi, Kenichi Kawasaki

A new romance between factory workers Yôji (Issei Takahashi) and Sachiko (Aoba Kawai) is going well -- that is, until aliens invade Earth and implant themselves into tumor-like growths on human s...( read more  read more... )houlders. When Sachiko is attacked and transformed into a slave cyborg, it's up to the half-infected Yôji to rescue his lover. Co-directors Jun'ichi Yamamoto and Yudai Yamaguchi surround their tender love story with a rollickingly gross splatter-fest.

Over-the-top, super-gory, low-budget science-fiction fun! I originally called Evil Dead Trap anime done live but I was wrong; THIS is anime done live--think The Guyver mixed with Tetsuo 2:Body Hammer. And thumbs up to the makers for actually saying the title in the film even if i...( read more)t is only once and at the very end. Be forewarned though it is subtitled.

Awesome in oh so many ways. Forget the comparisons to Tetsuo, who gives a shit and those complaints are just by people who love to complain about anything. If you're a fan of over the top, no holds barred, weirdo movies this should make your day. A mixture of all types of gen...( read more)res and there is never a dull moment. Highly recommended.

A wild, over the top splatterfest of alien parasites taking over humans as hosts so that they can fight each other but you've also got a tender cyber-punk romance mixed into the plot. The Necroborg costume designs are pretty good and what can I say about the sick special effects ...( read more)such as the transformation sequence where the alien host uses drills to penetrate the eyes to put their implants in. Gross or what! Asian extreme fans will love it.

I'm glad I can live in a world where a film like "Meatball Machine" exists.. Borrowing heavily from Cyberpunk films like "Tetsuo: The Iron Man" comes this extreme mix of Horror, Comedy, Fantasy, Romance, Drama, Exploitation.. and pretty much everything else you'd expect from a fi...( read more)lm called Meatball Machine. See it.

Meatball Machine follows the tradition of fine, gore-infested Japanese cinema, that also doesn't make any fucking sense. See, the plot has something to do with alien robots landing on Earth and infesting humans so that they can make them into mutated alien robots and fight other...( read more) mutated alien robots. And the winner eats the other one. It's and earlier project of Yoshihiro Nishimura, who would go on to do effects for Machine Girl, Tokyo Gore Police, and the hotly anticipated RoboGeisha. I'm all about movies with premises that can justify their ridiculous premises. Meatball Machine is halfway there. See, as a splatter film, it delivers, and it delivers well. The film opens with a full force gore assault and doesn't really let up for any considerable amount of time, as we jump from a man about to hang himself being ripped apart by a robot, into a NecroBorg fight to the death. Then we get into the plot, and the unremarkable events begin to occur. The awkward protagnoist, Yoji, is the typical bumbly, awkward, and unfortunate main character that often gets repeated in Japanese exports. The lonely factory worker getting caught masturbating to the girl he likes at the next factory over, too weak to defend her against rape by another factory worker. But I suppose that all becomes moot when everyones a fucking NecroBorg anyway. Meatball Machine features another one of my favorite B-movie stereotypes: the devastating disaster, impossible to keep underwraps, that no one notices is going on. But nevermind that, enjoy the eyeballs splattering, the tentacle rape, the freaky scar dream sequence, and the giant mutated laser cannons before the plot gets confusing enough to catch up to you, and oh it will, because by the end, it doesn't make any god damn sense. There's probably some underlying theme about sadness and depression in the modern age buried under the goop and guts of this film, but the plot element of the robots being attracted to negative emotions is a non-sensicle add-on anyway, and it's all a little bit inconclusive. I guess inability to connect with other humans ends up ripping us apart? Whatever. It's fun and goopy, the costumes are great, the visual effects are disgusting, and you know exactly what you're getting yourself into, so enjoy.

fun to watch, if you like those kind of movies. violent, bloody, unclear story, cyborg-punk mods..and cheap visual effects. recommanded to fans only.

If u like Tetsuo, The Guyver, Tokyo Gore Police and Gwar you'll probably like this although not as much if only because it seems to borrow so heavily from those very same films and well Gwar.

This was dumb in a not good way.

Pretty fucking stupid. The only reason I saw this was that someone online said it was like "The Machine Girl" and "Tokyo Gore Police". The only thing that was remotely the same was that there was lots of gore, but nothing compared to those two movies, not to mention that " Meatba...( read more)ll Machine" was terrible and boring throughout the movie. The only good part was the romance between Yoji and Sachiko which only lasts a good five minutes before she's turned into a meatball machine. This whole movie was fucking stupid. Concept and all and even the ending was stupid. Fuck this movie, go see something else.

Very original movie. Costumes remind me of a Gwar show. Lotsa splatter and gore too. Imagine such cyberpunk films like Tetsuo or Rubbers Lover, but it color and with a lot more narrative. The dvd has some rad features too including a short film also features clips recycled by To...( read more)kyo Gore Police
