Culteral, dramatic, interesting, beautiful depictions, indepth emotional parts. This movie was balanced. It helped me understand the geisha and as well understand women in a chinese culture. I liked this movie although it was long. But long is good because atleast the movie was not crammed. I would say it is for 13+. It isn't for everyone but I found it entertaining.

Having recently lived in Japan I really loved this movie. It made me feel like I was there again. It was a great story and I loved it. I have the movie and the book, I think it was very well done, I felt the culture as I watched this movie.

Ok, when I first saw this movie, I was really drawn in by it's beauty. However, I have educated myself, and I now know how truly inaccurate both this movie and the book it is based on really true. If you REALLY want to learn about geisha, read "Geisha, A Life" by Mineko Iwasaki. She is the woman that the book by Arthur Golden is 'based on', and the one who wrote her own book because the book he wrote is inaccurate. She was actually a geisha, and so I trust her more than him. Basically, the film is something that is pretty to look at, but not take seriously. It's just too fictional.

I actually haven't seen the movie, but I've read the book. The movie looks great, but I don't think that Mameha looks that good...(they also used Chinese people to play the characters...odd...oh well. They looked great.)

All you people who dissed this movie are a pile of shit with the undeserving name of a human. This is a great movie and I would watch it again and again.

Great movie, but I'd have to say that this is still one of those movies that cannot beat it's sibling the book "Memoirs Of A Geisha"
And hmm... fictional aside, I still found it utterly breathtaking

I don't doubt it is unrealistic, but it is still well worth watching, even just for the spectacular art of it.

Well isn't that essentially what all movies outside documentaries are all about? Telling a story for the sake of storytelling, not accuracy.
