Really good, just got a little boring toward the end though. It seemed like it would go on FOREVER!! Lol.

The film is simply technically perfect. The retro-mood it created had me immensed in the world of geisha from beginning to the end. The story also never dragged, as each of the three parts flowed nicely. The main problem is with character development. Except for some verbal back-and-forth between the two and a few dirty tricks from Li Gong, there was no reason to believe why she was the most famous geisha in Japan before Ziyi Zhang arrived. All of the cast performances were good.

This movie was amazing. I absolutely loved it. They did a fantastic job on it, though of course, like all movies based on books, they left out some stuff and added stuff. (Like the fire scene...) I read the book (which is marvelous!) and I had to see the movie. I'm so glad I did! You all should see it!!!!

ROMANCE: this film is based on a novel about the lifestyle of Japan Geisha, not suitable for young kids, we watch this just for fun, because I like Zhang ziyi!

    The movie was beautifully crafted...
it narrates the story of a girl's journey in becoming the best geisha China has ever known...the sophistication of the art of geisha was shown in this movie...and how it was lost in the invasion...

It also follows a story of two lovers, when they both know its forbidden...

beauty in every image and sound. a young girl sold to a geisha house as a child is a servant to "mother" and hatsumomo, the egotistical geisha of the house. when one day she meets a man who s kind to her, she sees being a geisha as a stepping stone. she prays that she will see him and...and become a geisha. this intoxicating study of humanity, love, and 1930s japan is a moving must see.

Memoirs of a Geisha is a brilliant film. Ziyi Zhang is really beautiful with blue eyes and along with Michelle Yeoh and Li Gong it is one of my F@V Japanese's film.

I thought it was quite good, because i knew nothing about Geisha's, so it was interesting to see the way their lives are portrayed.

Very full of religious thought. I felt it was slightly uncomfortable to watch because of the use of Chinese workers as forced prostitutes. The story-line tells many tragic yet melting intentions, while the actresses, especially Michelle Yeoh, have done an excellent work of art in this movie.

wonderful film...this will give you an idea what women had to go thru before during the war, and the difficult transformation she had to be a geisha. A fantastic film of love and sacrifice.

This movie was a little long for me. I had a hard time staying focused on it. It had a good story to it, I just think they could have cut some stuff out of it.

would have liked to see japanese actresses playing the geishas for more authenticity. still, i thought it was very well filmed, with a good story, good pacing for 2.5 hrs, and commendable acting, especially that of Gong Li.

Stunning adaptation of the novel, one of the few times the translation to screenplay was more enjoyable than the book to me.

A great story about the life journey of a young Japanese girl. I loved the insight into Japanese culture. I felt bad for her at the end as the ancient and noble Japanese tradiotions had been wiped out due to WW2 and westernisation.

Apparently, direcvtor Rob Marshall saw Mulan and thought, yeah, Giesha are Chinese, so he cast Chinese people as Gieshas in his movie about Japanese courtisans, Ughhh! Even so, it's a good flick, but there are still some times where it seems like they're American stereotypes of Giesha, not real ones, with darker motives, like having affairs, akin to say, prostitutes. This is wrong, as they were NEVER meant as prosititutes.

A sexed up version of Cinderella? Meh kinda disappointed with the Chinese actresses portraying Japanese but the scenery and some of the shots were beautiful.

The most visually beatiful film I think I've ever seen. I wish life in Japan still looked that way but unfortunatly most of it is modernized. The movie itself was well done and props to the Asian actors/ actresses that needed to learn English for the movie.
