Richard Roeper, Ebert & Roeper
It was supposed to open in the spring of 2003, but they kept pushing back the release date. They should have kept pushing.
-
Stephen Hunter, Washington Post
Evidently, these young FBI geniuses were just on a collective undercover assignment to infiltrate the Melrose Avenue club scene, because their disguise consists of half-grown (or half-ungrown) beards, shaggy hair, [and] insouciant wisecracking attitudes.
-
Mick LaSalle, San Francisco Chronicle
As effective as a movie can be and yet still be 100 percent forgettable.
-
Susan Walker, Toronto Star
It didn't take much mental power to come up with the plot.
-
Cynthia Fuchs, Common Sense Media
Wannabe FBI profilers stalked by serial killer.
-
Lewis Beale, Film Journal International
Excessive violence, hysterical directorial overkill and a cast of mostly glamorous non-actors make this relatively short film seem much longer than it really is.
-
Peter T. Chattaway, Christianity Today
There's nothing particularly deep about this film -- and Harlin's efforts to jazz things up do occasionally go over-the-top.
-
Steve "Uncle Creepy" Barton, Dread Central
Even though at times it is flawed, it still plays better than most of the stuff currently out there.
-
Marty Mapes, Movie Habit
One of those cool, scrappy B movies
-
Michael Szymanski, Wordmag.com
Very cool ten little Indians serial killer thriller...
-
John J. Puccio, Movie Metropolis
I was hoping that when the killer was finally revealed, he would say, "And now for something completely different," and John Cleese would step out of the shadows....
-
John J. Puccio, Movie Metropolis
...for all its pseudo logic, Mindhunters is just as implausible as any Halloween sequel.
-
Jeffrey M. Anderson, Combustible Celluloid
Its every brain-dead move is designed to cover up the implausible story's beehive of inconsistencies.
-
Ed Gonzalez, Slant Magazine
Iny, miny, mino, mo.

Marty Mapes, Movie Habit
A cool, scrappy B movie with no pretentions

Teeheehee! This kind of reminds me of a parallel version of Saw, which paradoxically takes itself more seriously but has a greater sense of fun. A bunch of impossibly smart, conveniently wounded and hubristically arrogant characters are stranded on an island and pitted against a serial killer that apparently has the powers of telepathy and precognition. It's like death-by-Rube-Goldberg-device set against the backdrop of a gritty police procedural drama. It's the strangest and funniest thing to watch. There are scenes that totally grip you in suspense (though in hindsight, what you're watching was ridiculous), and scenes of flippant humour that help the audience bond to the characters. This is such a great popcorn horror movie. I have nothing bad to say about it. When the writers give him cheese, Renny Harlin makes an omelette.

28/08/2010 (TELEVISION)

A great "Twistie Flick" that lives up to it's title, I was actually loosing my mind during my experience. Funny, I have a collection of DVDs I haven't seen and yet I choose to watch TV... What is that?

Anyway, this movie was able to extract the consistency of my interest and keep me there till the end. I must admit, for someone like me to keep guessing is unusual. I usually know who the culprit is before the film ends, but this time I was going back and fourth.

This is another one I have never heard of but enjoyed and it was more than a decent watch in my opinion. I have never seen some of these actors and actresses before but they did deliver the goods and the final product was indeed a worthy check.

Clearly a flick of hopes as the cast is pretty good, Christian Slater, Kilmer, Clifton Collins Jr, Jonny Lee Miller and LL Cool J are all onboard for this slasher. Think 'Scream' or any kind of horror film in that kind of vain and you have this reasonable killer chiller, there is plenty of dark rooms, jumpy moments, silent corridors and nice death sequences in the form of little traps which do remind you alittle of 'Final Destination' and are quite well done too.
There is plenty of claret on display and some gruesome kills which look good and keep you engaged right to the end, alittle predictable in the outcome but still quite enjoyable but the finale is slightly flat. At the end of the day this is simply a group of people stuck in a building getting killed off one at a time, hardly genius is it....but its silly fun which is worth alook if your a fan of the stalk n slash genre.

I'm not quite sure if Johnny Lee Miller's accent was entirely convincing to anyone else, it seemed really over the top to me, but maybe that's because I know what his speaking voice is like usually.
Maybe people who enjoyed 'Saw' would like this film, although there is slightly less gore

The classical Whodunnit-theme in times of CSI thrillers. The movies tries a little hard to be cool and some of the dialogues are rather cheesy in their first semester psychology blabla. But the victim list is pretty surprising, the plot rather unforseeable and the showdown is quite original, except for the stereotype of the blabbering villain. Entertaining, but Renny Harlin has been known to do more spectacular movies than this.

The idea is the same as Agatha Christie's "Ten little Indians" but the whole story is conceived in such an unlikely way that most of the flick looks ridiculous.

This was intense....!!!! You will not believe the ending! This should be a hall of fame classic...soon! See this with low blood pressure!!! LOL!!!

I was well entertained, whilst trying to guess who done it.

This movie entertains....just forget about logic, the gaping plot holes and far-fetched storylines..the 'profiler' angle is merely a plot device...this film is more in the whodunit/slasher genre..think more along the lines of 'ten little indians' or survivor island. The two major stars really have a limited role in the movie, and the rest of the cast is simply adequate. All that being said, this movie will hold your interest and provide the standard plot twist at the end you never saw coming.

Not too bad a movie if you are not like me and don't start analyzing the probablility of movie traps actually working the way they do in real life and that people are actually stupid enough to fall for it. BEST PART is that they kill off Christian Slater early. I can't believe he was once a decent actor. Of course I once thought Gremlins was the greatest movie ever.
-
Keeps you guessing at times and other times completley predictable. Not horrible and there is a early death that suprised me but overall, huge, gaping plotholes and kills that are unrealistic made this one average but watchable.
-
Beleive it or not although a little predictable this was a great thriller with some good twists.

Great movie! I think I've commented on this before, oh well. Great cast. Fantastic story plot.

Admittedly I didn't expect much out of this film. I mean if you look at who's starring in it, the combination adds up to bad movie, as well as the director of such "jems" as Die Hard 2, Deep Blue Sea, and Driven, wasn't someone to expect alot from. So going into film, I figured it was gonna suck. I was surprised that it wasn't too bad. It pretty much employed all the tired visuals of action films that we have seen over and over again, especially with the polishy look and the blue tint. The script also is pretty terrible, setting you up for the most run of the mill plot you could ever hope to find in a film, as well as cringe enducing dialogue and dramatics that make you want to slap your head. I'll stop there with the criticisms as I'm sure you can assume the rest.
All that being said the film has some interesting original aspects, unfortunetly they are overshadowed by sheer mediocrity.
Not bad, but nothing to write home about, nothing to even tell your neighbor about. I mean it doesn't even come to to warning them not to see it, they'll probably get enough entertainement out of it to not consider the better part of 2hrs wasted, but that's all they'll get out of it. Even they can even remember the film further than a week.

Would have been terrible if not for LL Cool J's line: "eenie meenie miney moe, who will be the next mutha fucka to go?"
