This should really be called Nana (instead of Ming Ming) because that's the name of one of the two characters Zhou Xun plays; the one who has the orange hair, quite a bit more screen time, and a better story line if we can separate them. This is NOT a martial arts film unless you...( read more) consider flinging marbles and flicking matches at people martial arts. I thought it was silly. Director Susie Au obviously comes from a music video background. I found the random quick and quirky edits tiring, although they did set up the actors with wonderfully posed portraits throughout. Daniel Wu has an awesome hairdo if you go for that kind of thing. Zhou Xun's Cantonese is quite fetching and ordinarily I could watch her all day long. It's too bad that the director's heavy-handed style gets in the way of enjoying this film.

Wrongly touted as a martial arts action film, this is actually a stylish drama with a smattering of action thrown in. Stunning visuals throughout and Zhou Xun is incredibly sexy.

A truly irresistable film, beautiful characters and interesting story. Daniel Wu plays D, handsome, sexy and alluring to women, he's a lover and fighter. Ming ming falls for D and gets 5 million and a mysterious box from gangster Cat to run away with D... Things take an unexpect ...( read more)turn when Ming sees and runs into Nana her look alike and lets Nana be the scapegoat to her crime. The only irritable thing in and of this film is the dramatic pauses throughout and the reversing of some scenes... you'll have to see this to understand. The overuse of pausing is a pain in the ass.

I love the way this movie was shot, lots of effects and slow-mo bits really added to the story (which was okay but I kind of wondered where the hell it was going at times). In all, it's a decent movie but it could have been much more concise.

This movie actually gave me more than I was expecting, but not enough to make it a multiple watch movie.

The story is pretty interesting. It starts out with a bang, with some nice cinematography and cinematic elements (slow motion, freeze frames, etc.) to really keep your inte

...( read more)rest. The good thing about this film is that is consistent. The great cinematography is sustained throughout the entire picture. The same can be said about the cinematic features as well, but I felt that at certain points they were being over used. It really kept me from picturing this as a smooth flowing movie. While the beginning of the film is good, the middle is extrememely slow and a tad boring. It feels like the characters are too isolated from the real world and seeing them alone, for the most part, becomes uninteresting quite quickly. In some movies this isolation factor will work, but it wasn't working so well here. At least this film picks it up and serves up an interesting ending. It is still slow, but this is where the character interaction picks up and the story unfolds itself as it should.

The acting isn't too bad. Zhou Xun does the best job out of everybody with her two characters. I really like films that can put a single actor to mutiple characters and have them performed well. Both of Xun's characters aren't minimal either. They are intricate to the story and have a good amount of airtime.

In the end this film will probably surprise many, but don't expect too much out of this, unless you're a big fan of dramas with some romance and mystery.
