It amazes me how much power and influence people can have in other lives. We're not talking people in powerful positions but every day individuals. Even the most subtle word, opinion or action can change the whole direction of a person's existence. People usually do not think ...( read more)of this and the ones who do often make the choice to use that power in a negative way. Jane Austen did not realize how much she influenced her niece and the outcome was portrayed negatively however do we really know whether or not Fanny's life turned out worse? As to her regrets, I do believe she had some as many people do but she was ultimately happy with what her life had been. Or at least it seemed that way.

Very well acted and interesting story of Jane Austen.

Stand out performance from Olivia Williams as witty but rather acerbic and slightly stroppy Jane Austen in a non chocolate box costume drama from the BBC. You can't ignore that Austen never married and died young. No idea how many liberties were taken with Jane's character, but t...( read more)his was an absorbing look at what she MIGHT have been like

Wasn't bad, seemed a good portrayal of Austen's life.

This is a brilliant period drama done by the BBC, and thoroughly watchable. A bit of an untold story about Jane Austen herself. Definitely worth checking out if you are able.
