The veteran Vietnam lieutenant Jake Neeley lives alone in a cabin in the woods and his only contact with the civilization is through the owner of a small store, Kate, who periodically supplies his pro...( read more  read more... )visions. The solitary Jake helps other lonely veterans that live in the forest giving them part of his supplies and receiving wood in return. When Jake is visited by the former private of his platoon Henry R. Hocknell, who has lung cancer, Henry asks him to raise his Vietnamese daughter Lenny Hocknell. The widow Henry has no family and he will be subjected to a severe treatment of cancer. The reluctant Jake says no, but Henry leaves his daughter and vanishes. Along his contact with the young girl, Jake improves his behavior until a tragedy happens.

    Danny Glover is a great actor.but he shouldn't play in this kinda slow movies.its story is about people who is missing in 'nam.if there hadnt been too much 'nam movie,i would love this one.but i bored.not only because of story,there were too much unnecesary scenes.but acting is g...( read more)reat.1.5 star is for Danny and others,1 star is for atmosphere.but it is boring.there were some action scenes in forest and in the dreams but its not enough i think.

    First pers...( read more)on to name that song will get an invisible bowl of rice. Nothing will stifle hunger like Uncle Ben's invisible rice, homestyle.

    Touching story. Had a hard time finding this to see the whole thing. I thought it was worth watching. Bring a box of Kleenex! -- If I find it on again, I'm watching!

    A truly wonderful movie full of such deep emotions. Love & hatred, sadness & laughter, heartbtreak & love. Forgiveness & tragedy. I highly recommend this movie to all. Danny Glover gives a 2 thumbs up performance.
