Alex Burrows (Maggie Lawson) is a shy, bookish teenager who has a crush on Eric (Jesse Nilsson), a football player and one of the most popular boys in her class, but she lacks the confidence to talk to him. Meanwhile, Janine Adams is a successful teen fashion model whose life is dominated by her overbearing mother Deirdre (Kathie Lee Gifford); Janine would like to live like a normal teenager for a change, and wishes her mother would stop trying to fix her up with fellow model Jason Sharp (Justin Timberlake).
