I love to see JLO in action, so this movie I couldn't resist. I love to see how she handled the in-laws, they were surely a handful. Jane Fonda really acted well.
Tarty (not in a good way), we've seen this many times before, but back then there wasn't two actresses whose 'face off' attitude was so inept and irritating.
Jane Fonda is every potential bride to be's worst nightmare in this rom com. Jennifer Lopez plays Charlie who is about to marry the man of her dreams played by Michael Vartan...what she doesn't realise is that she's also about to marry his mother aswell. Jane Fonda takes an instant dislike to his son's fiance and constantly tries to find ways to jeopardize their blossoming relationship. Wanda Sykes is amazing as the comic sidekick, the only problem I have with this film is that I just don't believe Jennifer Lopez was made for acting, I cringe whenever she speaks in a movie. I'm sure there's plenty of people that would disagree but there you have it my friends.
talk about nightmare, loved this movie, jane fonda's performance was terrific, & wanda sykes was great: sarcastic, jennifer lopez was good too :)
this one will make you laugh & cry if you're a hopeless romantic :)
Too funny. This movie is hilarious. A little on the silly side, and some parts are a bit far-fetched, but it's a great laugh at the extremely meddlesome "mother-in-law".
'Charlotte 'Charlie' Cantilini: And about the holidays...
Viola Fields: Are you gonna keep me away?
Charlotte 'Charlie' Cantilini: You must be present for every Christmas, Thanksgiving, birthday, school play, clarinet recital, and soccer game in our kids' lives. I want you to love them, and spoil them and teach them things that Kevin and I can't. Like how to throw a right hook for example. I want you there, Viola. I do, up front and center. From this point i will not negotiate.
Ruby: Damn, that girl can give a nice little speech!'
'Viola Fields: [Walks out of institution] Ruby, oh my dearest friend. I've missed you so much.
Ruby: Well good. They still got you medicated.'
'Viola Fields: Marriage is a sacred union which must only be entered with the utmost care.
Charlotte 'Charlie' Cantilini: Weren't you married four times?'
'Ruby: [to Kevin] You're bringing a girl home... now? She's just got off from the funny farm!'
Yet another demeaning film, in which Jen is the poor girl, marrying a rich guy and the mom who thinks she isn't good enough. This has gotten a bit trite.
Kinda funny in some ways, maybe abit cheesy at some bits.
Depends on what type of films you like really, but if you dont like this type then don't watch.
I think Viola and ruby were had the funniest lines and the to actresses that played them did a good job and seemed to work well on the screen.
Monster-in-Law was a really nice movie. The lines in the script were clever and witty. The plot was hilarious. The pacing is quite fast for a romantic comedy, the psychological games they play are clever and fun. It brings out a great message that differences can eventually be solved through honest communication. This movie is great for a good time.
Not sure if I was taken by this. I guess I was expecting more from the actors but there wasn't really any guts to the story and I think the whole "improbability" of it turned me off.
This one is definitely in the 'Chick Flick' category & one of Jane Fonda's better movies in recent years, lots of great humor. J-Lo's performance is also great is this romantic-comedy that does nothing to improve the stereotype of the evil mother-in-law.
