Critic Reviews

  • Emanuel Levy, EmanuelLevy.Com

Though very much in the vein of Scorsese's masterpiece Mean Streets, Ted Demme's bleak and downbeat tale has its distinctive merits, not least of which is the acting.

  • Scott Weinberg, eFilmCritic.com

Prefectly entertaining "gangs, guns & streets" tale.

  • Dennis Schwartz, Ozus' World Movie Reviews

A realistic, hard-boiled peek at an old Irish, close-knit neighborhood, in Boston's blue-collar Charlestown section.

While it may be familiar, Monument Ave is gritty, realistic, and certainly an authentic depiction of the bleak nature of the 'mean streets'. Denis Leary is especially convincing.
