Early Ellen Page effort which proves a good vehicle for her but works less well as a whole. The aims of the collective she joins are muddled and it takes the cast a long time to realize the leader is preying on their vulnerabilities. Certainly captures the anarchist vibe.

What starts off as a very intriguing and realistic movie about street kids is destroyed by a bunch of Lord of the Flies wannabe nonsense and a ridiculous conclusion.

Drama about a young girl who becomes involved with a travelling group who claim they can help change lives for the better.Of course the young girl, Sherry, is tempted and immediately joins the group- SPARK-and hopes for a better life, making new friends, moving from place to place ...( read more)and maybe eventually finding her place in the world. It's later she realises that certain members of the group are just manipulative control freaks just living off the land and not much else, but by this time it could be to late for Sherry to escape. Ellen Page is brilliant as Sherry, an unsure young girl just trying to find herself, taken in by the promise of a great new life and future. Its no wonder the producers of Hard Candy wanted her in their film after this performance but fair play to the other actors, they were great to.A pretty original, gritty and compelling drama.

anyway, despite EP EP EP <333, this movie was just okay. :/ the woman who played the mom was especially terrible. i could not believe how terrible her acting was. anyway i guess it was still worth wa...( read more)tching one time. for EP. oh, and i thought it was cool how maxwell mccabe-lokos was in both this movie & the tracey fragments! he was also in lars and the real girl. but that doesn't have EP in it. though it should have. because she's amazing. ...anyway.

Bit of a strange one. Not entirely sure I liked it that much, but interesting idea. Most of the characters are pretty unlikeable, and the whole thing is quite ugly to look at. Even Ellen Page looks freaky. But it apparently is semi-autobiographical which gives it a bit more ...( read more)credibility. Definitely not on the list to rewatch in a hurry, but worth a look.

i really enjoyed the movie. you can tell it's 'B'-ness with a few parts. but i really liked the story line, the acting wasn't bad, and it does a fairly good job of showing the innerworkings of a cult and how they can manipulate a parson. for example, Sherry's mother. it's a must ...( read more)see for ellen page fans, not as good as hard candy, but just as entertaining... minus the castration

whenever i read about a flick that has certain themes involved i'm always going in thinking that they'll actually go all the way with it and unfortunately, like in this case, it didn't happen. Was expecting to see a lot of the craziness dealing with cults but the whole flick was ...( read more)really about a young girl escaping everyone and being herself which is okay under different circumstances...idk, least i got to see Ellen Pages' sexy self :)
