not to shabby. Story was alright. The dream sequences where very well shot, the rest of the movie not as much. Mila play a likeable character for once.
You could tell, right from the get go that this movie was trying too hard to be quirky. Casting Jon Heder pretty much confirmed it. It?s one of those typical movies that tries to make you feel like shit because all the characters are annoying or depressing and put in annoying or depressing situations. But as the movie progresses, you begin to see that positive things are or will (some things were relatively predictable) happen to the characters. The main thing that makes this movie worth watching is Mila Kunis, she?s fun, her character is really likeable and she?s really cute. Actually, the movie got more likeable as it got past the halfway point.
Here lately I've been renting nothing but low-budget indie-comedies (the last being Smiley Face, which was horrible IMO) and I'll have to tell ya, this has been the best so far. Like my girlfriend and I say, it has a Garden State feel to it, with it's slow paced quirkiness and sometimes offbeat humor - "a smarter-than-dumb comedy" is the term I'm trying to go for. I have no idea what else to say, but even though it was somewhat predictable, it still made me laugh my ass off. Just give it a try, you'll either love it, or you'll like it. Can't go wrong there.
This movie really blew me away in the sense that this isn't your typical dumb-comedy. Ben Gourley does a great job in this movie as an uptight play by the rules intern who gets underminded by the likes of carefree and wild Mila Kunis - with a little help of course from John Heder. It almost had a Garden State feel to it - in that it was a more mature and spontaneous type of comedy. I loved the dream sequences and all the artistic shots in this movie. This will be well worth your time.
Cute, silly, and amateurish. Feels very much like a first-time outing for the writer and director, and a romantic comedy/road movie is not going to have too many surprises in it. Ben Gourley is not a particularly talented actor, but he, Heder, and Kunis seem to be enjoying themselves without being annoying about it, so that saves it from being a complete loss. The guy who plays Gourley's buddy Carl has some actual amusing bits as we see him at yoga classes and D&D games and quoting He-Man and/or Lion-O. A good date movie, because it's innocuous and unoriginal enough that you're not going to miss much if you make out with your date occasionally while it's playing.
This is a wonderful movie! I love the geek to hero aspect of Rick Robinson ladder-climbing law intern. The movie is cute and oh so wonderful and fulfills all my squishy girl desires for happily ever after endings.
I thought this would be more funnier then it really was and the cast seemed kinda promise like Rutger Hauer , Jon Heder (Napoleon Dynamite) altho he havent got the main role. The movie felt really low budget all the way actually and better to pick up some other movies before this..
Rick Robinson is quickly climbing the corporate ladder in a prestigious law firm. Asked by his boss to move his niece cross country before his bar exam, Robinson takes a trek cross country that starts off zany but quickly turns into a life altering road trip. Picking up a crazy neo-hippie along the way, Robinson slowly begins to debate what he wants and what he really needs. Moving McAllister is a road trip of a coming of age where true love finds the meaning of life.
Moving McAllister is a comedy-drama that never gets off the ground. The premise has been done several times before, but this version is stale and quickly bores the audience. The cast is all wrong for this movie. Mila Kunis is quickly proving she is only good and fresh on That 70?s Show and Jon Header once again plays the same character he portrayed in Napoleon Dynamite. Moving McAllister misses the mark completely on this effort and receives only two moving vans out of five for boring the audience.
Funny, cute, witty and gorgeous all over! I enjoyed this film because first of all Ben Gourley and Mila Kunis are Uber Hott and Mila's character really did remind me of myself so it was very easy to empathize with the character itself. And yes how could I forget Jon Heder, he wasnt Napoleon Dynamite in this one folks, the total opposite infact, he was hilarious. Good show!
