Three stars for Jeff Goldblum being such a good creep. He's like Walken, who can turn most crap into fun crap. The movie started out pretty promising, and then got a bit stale.

When two men try to rob the h...( read more)ome of Mr. Frost they look in the garage and discover an aston martin with a dead body inside. They flee only to get arrested, but they mention about the dead body at the Frost home.

An inspector shows up at the Frost home, luckily it was just after Frost buried the body. They chat, mostly about what the two car thieves saw in the garage. Frost admits it, but the inspector thinks it's a joke not wanting to assume the worst he leaves. "Don't forget your coat," Frost tells him. As the inspector goes to retrieve his coat he discovers a hand with a pool of blood around it. Another dead body.

Frost's eyes suddenly have white crosses in them. He's been caught. Could he be possessed?

Reports tell that women, children and a dozen mutilated bodies were dug up around the Frost estate. Some calling him the next great serial killer, along side of Ed Gein.

Two years go by after the arrest and not much is known about Mr. Frost. It's almost like he never existed. No data found, no social security, nothing. He is taken to the Saint Clare institute to be studied. The first words he's uttered in over two years: Dr. Day. Sarah Day is a psychiatrist and much of the film deals with their back and forth banter. In their first meeting, he melts her cheap ring after she clumsily drops it to the floor. He even uses insects to listen in on far away conversations.

The inspector who helped arrest Frost is sure that Frost is the devil himself. Hard to believe, but that very idea gets to Dr. Day. So what does the devil want? He wants Dr. Day to murder him. How interesting. That alone won't stop the evil, instead he becomes reborn instead through Dr. Day's action.

To vanquish evil, you must become evil. It's like what Frost said, "The price of action is colossal. And we are going to hell."

Interesting tale with Goldblum as the center holding it together. He makes the film watchable and you can tell he's having fun playing the devil.

    Mr. Frost (1990)
Written by Derry Hall and Brad Lynch
With Jeff Goldblum, Kathy Baker, Alan Bates, Jean-Pierre Cassel, and Roland GiraudI

The Devil still exists and he is looking for action.

It appears that the rascally and very eccentric young country gentleman Mister Frost (Goldblum) has taken it upon himself to torture and murder125 people after which he planted the corpses for fertilizer in his side yard. Being an honest sort of chap, he candidly admits this when a police detective drops by one afternoon. Upon being sent to a mental institution, the ornery fellow just can't seem to mend his ways. After not speaking a word to anyone for two years, Mr. Frost finally breaks his silence when an attractive young doctor is assigned to his case.

Strange things begin to happen immediately afterwards -one of the staff shrinks starts to go mad, a released patient goes on a killing spree and people begin seeing Satanic eyes in their rear-view mirrors. While he has finally broken his world record silence, the only person to whom Mr.Frost will speak to is his new psychiatrist Dr. Sarah Day (Baker), who tries to determine why the authorities are unable to locate any record of his existence.

He tells her that he is Satan and that he is very angry because the world has tossed aside the notion of pure evil. He blames rationalists, such as the good Dr. Day for opting to use the scientific method and psychological explanations to explain terrible social phenomena.

Complaining that due to this confusion and fuss, nobody bothers to try selling their souls to him anymore, Frost's prerogative is to make a logical person publicly admit belief in the devil so as to remind mankind that the devil does indeed exist, and that he is still in the market to bargain with the greedy. In fact, it looks as if Dr. Day may be a prime candidate. Of course, the means that Frost has in mind to achieve this end may lead to some very interesting and chilling consequences for Day.
