Interesting story and a challenging role for Gere. Not too beleiveable but since it's Gere, it is worth seeing. Watching him act is a good reason to watch anything he is in.

I think Lena Olin is beautiful, but that damned Swedish accent reminds me of The Swedish Chef from the Muppets.

"people are like goldfish;they die and you flush them down the toilet"

bi-polar is no joke......helps one slightly understand one with manic depression. this movie does not represent the most extreme of cases, but easily introduces one into a glimpse of mania and severe depression.

Richard Gere is sooo fine when he is strapped down in a psychiatric bed and he is wet from sweating and fighting.....

Richard Gere has bipolar in this - hey! a perfect match! Why doesn't anyone *I* meet with BP look like this? humph. Anyway, it's a pretty good take on the mood swings, even if severe. Of course they have to throw in an unlikely romance, but whatever. Not badly done.
