A zany and crazy movie starring Leslie Nielsen as Mr. Magoo who gets himself into all sorts of trouble when he is accused of stealing a gem from a museum.
Also stars Jennifer Garner in her first movie role.
Leslie, what were you thinking. You had got yourself doing some half decent films and then you have nosedived back to this sort of rubbish. What a shame.
It's sad when a film is made and the whole time, from pre-production to the sad droop of empty box office receipts, everybody knows: a) the film is bad. Really bad. b) it shouldn't be made - nobody will be entertained, it will not turn a profit, the theater owners will hate you for making them take this reel so they can get an extra reel of Spiderman or whatever the fuck is going to make a bunch of money later, but yet, like some horrible avalanche of ineptitude it just keeps getting made - like a spiderweb made by a fly... c) if this is a waste of time for everybody, including the few people who will make some money from it (the actors? the director? the light guys?), why go through with it? Why not take a chance on something that has a whiff of brilliance in it? Or at least originality? d) Why make shit and pretend it's chocolate. Nobody laughed. Nobody cared. This was made like a sandwich made for a husband by a wife who is cheating on him and leaving him and who hates him - except the husband was the audience and the wife was everybody involved in making this, thing is, the audience didn't ask for a shit sandwich. So why make it?
I saw about ten minutes of this mess haphazardly. Any director who makes a movie of similar quality ever again should be forced to watch this movie 100 times in two weeks.
Silly, silly, silly! Not a great movie, but if you've seen the cartoon, you'll probably laugh--especially when he draws a frog on his belly as his fake tattoo--of all tats, he gets a frog?!?! FUNNY!
The movie is an adaptation of the popular cartoon and for what it is worth it does a good job of presenting itself as a live action cartoon. Leslie Nielsen seems to fit his role well as the famously weak eyed character. If you enjoy slapstick comedy then this is for you.
I so wanted to like this movie but the direction really lacked, as did the cinematography and screenplay. Leslie Neilson still did well with what he had though
Probably the worst film I've seen in my life and that is sad because it stars my beloved Leslie Nielsen. The frustration starts from the very beginning and soon you just wait for the film to end. I'm sorry this kind of junk exists.
My Dad has a habit of picking up some really awful movies. I warned him against this one, he borrowed it anyway and somehow I watched it with him. Awful and utterly forgettable.
too long and too drawn out. the film could have ended half an hour earlier if the filmmakers were smart enough. but, aside from that, the film is over the top hilarious, stupid, and some scenes are smart. leslie nielson is the perfect man for the job of mr magoo, but he is let down by sometimes predictable storyline plots which is too fantastical to be believable. still, it's aimable comedy.
