Connie Doyle (Ricki Lake) lost her mother. Connie meets Steve Decunzo (Loren Dean) as she winds up pregnant with his child. They mistaken Connie for Patricia Winterbourne the lady she met on the train is Hugh's (Brendan Fraser) wife. Connie meets Mrs. Grace Winterbourne (Shirley MacLaine) & her son Bill Winterbourne (Brendan Fraser): Hugh's identity twin brother. Connie (not Patricia Winterbourne) & Bill marry to accepts Bill as her husband by her name Constance Helen Doyle.

MCT:April 6, 2008This was a cute, off-beat movie with some not so good dialogue at times....Ricki Lake is not the greatest actor but she was pretty cute in the part and I really liked Brendan Fraser and Shirley Maclaine. I enjoyed it, it was reminiscent of "While you were Sleeping" and had a happy ending.

mrs winterbourne. is about this girl who ends up having a baby. one really bad night. in the rain. she is one the train. she finds this guy named hugh. finds her. so he says come to get dryed. then she see's a other girl on the train. then there is a crash. & the other girl & hugh ends up being killed. the only one that didn't get killed is ricki lake. they all think she is mrs winterbourne. then she finds this guy. & then end up falling in Love. then one night at this party. her past comes & finds her. he says he wants to be apart of his son's life. Ricki Lake tryes any way to keep him out. even bribe. then at Just before her wedding to Brendan Fraser. the cops show up & they said her ex is shot. the cops think she did it but an old flame of his ex ends up taking the blame. for what happend. this is a real funny & sad movie to see. this is one movie to add to your List!

I don't know why I really liked this movie so much. I just did. He didn't have to stretch by playing both twins at the same time, but I liked the movie still.

A chick-flick though it is a rather good watch. The melodrama and the emotions flying around the whole movie add a strong flavour of beautiful entertainment. A decent watch.

I love this movie!! Own it on dvd. Great cast and wonderful story, made me cry, made me laugh, made me mad. The perfect movie! I would watch it over and over again.. and sometimes I do.

very cute comedy about a girl (ricki lake) who is mistaken for shirley maclaine' s son braden fraser wife. and how through the trumoils on the story they all become a great family regardless their obsticles. good dvd rental.

Ricki Lake made her movie debut in this sweet romantic comedy about a girl who gets a new and better identity due to a mistake when a tradgic acciedent claims the lives of the rich Winterbourne newly weds,and by a bracelet and ring that she is wearing Ricki's character is believed to be the surviving Mrs Winterbourne..this lovely movie co stars Brendan Fraser and the always delightful Shirley Maclaine.. and is deffinately worth watching

Dernier point : tant qu'à vous emmerdez, lisez donc J'ai épousé une ombre, de William Irish... je ne l'Ai jamais terminé, mais c'en est une copie cachée, alors lisez la merde originale tant qu'à vous contenter de sa copie... -

This is a fast-paced movie that offers a refreshing romantic storyline. Ricki Lane (as Connie Doyle) successfully plays the role of a woman who is trapped between what she thinks is good for her child and her conscience. Brendan Fraser (as Hugh/Bill Winterbourne) is, as always, gorgeous. Shirley Maclaine (as Grace Winterbourne) portrays a rich lady who's hungry to see a grandchild that she forgets to protect her wealth just so she could leave these to a grandson (and daughter-in-law) she believed she has. Let's not forget Miguel Sandoval who, as Paco, was a very charming and convincing butler.
While the storyline needs more polishing to be believable, this film managed perfectly to entertain me, leaving me to forget intellectualizing on it. Thus, I spent the entire time enjoying the movie.
If there is any film that amuses and entertains (and makes one believe that there still is such a thing as "romance"), this is it! -

Great Chick flick. Not bad for a Ricky Lake movie, but if you like Brendan Fraser, well worth the look.
