Muhammad is a man of who sets the example for mankind. Muhammad was born in Mecca, which he took over later. At age 40 Muhammad was said to have received his firs revelation from God in the cave Hira in the mountain Jabal al-Nour is where he used for reflection and meditation. After the revelation Muhammad gave three years of himself for spiritual practices and prayers. Muhammad started the Qur?an, based on the word of God he received until is death.
The documentary of the Legacy of a Prophet was very enlightening, shedding light on the Islam faith, and the prophet that helped to craft it .

The movie, Muhammad: Legacy of a Prophet is a documentary about the life of Muhammad. Muhammad?s life s is one of the most well known prophets in history due to the written documentation of those who followed him. Muhammad was born In the city of Mecca in the year 570. He was ...( read more)a orphan and very poor. Muhammad would often retreat to the mountain top to meditate. On one such visit to the mountain an angel appeared to him and squeezed him and told him to recite and he said he could not. He was told to recite again and that is when his eyes were opened. After this experience Muhammad was terrified and shaken by the experience. Khadijah, Muhammad?s wife, encouraged Muhammad to consult her cousin, who was a Christian. Khadijah?s cousin told him that he was the prophet and he would be persecuted by his people. He was to recite the words of the one true God. Muhammad went out to teach everyone that needed to change their ways and that when they died God would be the judge for your good deeds and bad deeds. Muhammad always said e was not a divine figure so do not put him on a pedestal like Jesus. His many followers were the poor and down trotted. Muhammad died on June 8, 632. People were angered because they thought he was murdered. However once they realized that Muhammad was just a man, but God lives on and he is our reverence.
This relates to my text because Muhammad is a major figure in the Islamic religion. The documentary does a great job on reflecting his life and teachings. Other religions of the world may try to discredit him as not being a prophet, but the Islamic people love him as a teacher and someone who they can use as an example to live their life.

Muhammad "inherited" the troubled Meccan society that was becoming fairly hedonistic and materialistic. Revelations that he was experiencing were not in accord, and eventually posed a great threat to the developing Meccan merchant system. Muhammad left Mecca and with the time had gained a large number of supporters mainly in Medina and later on thgought the Arabic world and wider.
Stories of the real people that me and you both know, just regular people just like ourselves I believe explain it better than any narrator possibly can. They hopefully help us get rid of all the misconceptions we may ahve about this great religion and present it for what it truly is. It is the religion that gives people sense of humanity and reminds us that we are all responsible for each other. It condemns any kind of violence and retaliation. This is definitely a documentary worth seeing.

Muhammad: Legacy of a Prophet was very informative, it gave more amps to want to research the Muslim religion. Before learning about the religion, I looked at all Muslims as terriost. The movie casted Muhammad a person verses a prophet. It was intresting to know that he married s...( read more)omeone of such a significant age difference and that her being wealthy didn't stop her from loving an orphan. Love looks beyond apperance.
When looking at someone, he looked in their eyes; you never saw the light of him, before or after him. People felt society was coming to an end, they had no hope but Muhammad gave them hope after 23 years of continent of people killing one another endlessly, Muhammad bought peace and new hope to Arabia. Islam religion bought to Arabia by Muhammad is the most diverse religion with 1.2 billion followers around the world; they share a common bond with values that are expressed as Muslims such as; how to be a constructive citizen, how to be a good parent, how to be a good child and how to speak knowledge and truth. Muhammad is the prophet Muslims believe in.
9-11 put Muslims in the spotlight; they were taught that their issues were universal. A story that was passed down for 1400 years from generation to generation about a merchant, a husband, a father, a statesman and a warrior whom they consider the final prophet, the man who?s legacy continues to shape their lives today, a man known as Muhammad.
Feb. 632, Muhammad led what would be his last pilgrimage to the city of his birth (Mecca). On his first pilgrimage, he lead a few hundred Muslims back to Mecca, this time tens of thousands of believers followed in his footsteps. Shortly after returning to Medina, he received a permanence of his death, he knew his death was coming because he had an indication. He had been ill with a fever and the housewives were convinced he was on his death bed. Many surrounded him but he called for silence. On June 8, 632, Muhammad died peacefully.

This is a really inspiring, moving, and powerful documentary. Interwoven with the story of Muhammad and the creation of Islam are the stories of modern-day Muslims living in America, a very effective if somewhat nonlinear narrative. It's not just a history of Muhammad and Islam, ...( read more)nor is it a story about modern-day Muslims (both by birth and by choice), but a beautiful interweaving of the two. The subtitle 'Legacy of a Prophet' really says it all, as these people live their lives in accordance with the teachings and examples of Muhammad, still looking to him as a role model and looking at his life for guidance over a thousand years after he walked the earth. I wish more people with open minds would see things like this and come to realize that the majority of Muslims are kind sweet, generous, peace-loving people like the people in this video, such as Kevin the fireman and Najah the nurse. As is pointed out in the scene at the Dearborn soup kitchen, the Catholic priest who came there to learn more about Muslims soon found out the truth about the religion and its practioners, and that the extremists in the news are a small minority, the same way that if an outsider to his own faith had asked him about extreme and newsworthy examples of so-called Catholics behaving badly, he'd rightly explain to the person that that's the exception and not the rule. It was also surprising to learn that Dearborn, Michigan has a huge Muslim population; you don't usually think of a city in Middle America as having a large immigrant or Muslim population! After seeing this documentary, now I have even more respect and love for Islam, even though it's not my own personal path to the Divine, and for the prophet Muhammad.

Muhammad, legacy of a prophet was a well produced documentary. It was very informative and I would suggest that everybody should watch this movie to understand the life and teaching of Muhammad and the origin of Islam. Muhammad came to the world at ...( read more)a time when there was a lot of trouble in Arabia, the rich and powerful considered themselves as godlike and the poor and helpless were marginalized in the society. Muhammad gave them voice and direction and companionship in their struggle. In this sense, Islam is similar to other religions as most religions were born to liberate the poor and the oppressed. Whereas, other religion leaders confined themselves to Spiritual aspects, Muhammad was also a leader and statesman to protect his followers , he went to battle against the rulers of ancient Mecca. The term Jihad was meant as struggle alongside the oppressed and the destitute for a just and decent society. However, it is widely misused and misunderstood in modern era to satisfy narrow thinking. It was very interesting and inspiring to see viewpoint of American Muslims, both into and converted, they believe and practiced the pure form of Islam, which is to help the cause of humanity through service of mankind. They all considered the 9/11 attack as action that are un-Islamic and cowardly. The movie has a good match with the text, from the beginning to the end it was following all the events in Muhammad?s life and the life after.

This documentary is very interesting as well as informative. It is about the life and legacy of the Prophet Muhammad; however it touches on many different issues and subjects that many people may know nothing about. This documentary talks about Muhammad because the religion of ...( read more)Islam is based around him, his life, and his teachings and lets people know that the people of Islam are not what everyone thinks they are. This documentary is helping to get rid of the stereotypes that have been put on them since 9/11. It also shows the many different people, faces, races, etc that are Muslim which is really eye opening because everyone thinks that Muslims are all from the Middle East and when they come here they all do the same things. They are not because in this documentary it also shows many different families and people from different backgrounds who have great jobs and are outstanding citizens trying to live their lives like anyone else.
Through watching this documentary I was able to get a better understanding of the Islamic religion, the people, and Muhammad. I am a person who believes in Christianity however I am not one to judge others because they believe in something different from me. The U.S is made for everyone who wants to come and live freely. Oppression of one group or another has always been apart of this country, which is said because people are always judge and treated a certain way because of how other people of their race or religion did something that others did not like causing more pain and struggle. It is good to want to protect yourself, family, friends, etc but you also have to treat people individually and judge them as you get to know them. That is how so many people in this world miss out on great people.
This documentary directly relates to our World Religions class because we are now studying the Islamic religion and Muhammad is a very big part of the religion, he is the beginning of it. It also interrelates with Judaism and Christianity in some ways, which we have already learned about this semester.

"Muhammad: Legacy of a Prophet", is a documentary that chronicles the life and influence of Muhammad as well as the people of Islam. The information in this documentary is provided through the knowledge of scholars, experts in the Islam faith, experts in the life of Muhammad, an...( read more)d people of the Islam faith. The film describes the conditions of Mecca before the birth of Muhammad as a hostile environment. The ecology of Mecca was harsh as well as the people. It was a vigilante society. No one could survive on their own so tribes were of great importance. Muhammad was born in Mecca to a very important tribe. His father dies before his birth and his mother died when he was six years old. From then on, Muhammad was raised by his uncle. Though he was born into a significant tribe, Muhammad identified very closely with the less fortunate largely because he was an orphan. As he grew older, Muhammad began to retreat to the mountains to meditate. It was during one such retreat to Light Mountain that Muhammad was visited by the divine. Muhammad engulfed with the presence of the angel Gabriel. Gabriel told Muhammad to recite but Muhammad told him he could not. The words that would be the beginning to the scripture poured from Muhammad's lips. Here, Islam was developed. Muhammad was told he was the prophet and was warned that the road ahead would not be an easy one. His own would reject him and his prophecy. This was absolutely the case. Muhammad slowly gained followers as the scripture would come to him not all at once but gradually. Many that followed his word were persecuted, but still persevered. The documentary gives insight into the life of Muhammad and the impact his life has today. People of the Islam religion look at Muhammad as the greatest example of attitude and behavior. They look to him for guidance in everyday life. Followers of Islam not only follow the scripture but they do as Muhammad did. One man who converted to Islam said that you can not just talk the talk, but you have to walk the walk. This film relates to world religions because if not for Muhammad, Islam would never have been formed. Muslims today face hostility and prejudice. Muhammad is looked to for guidance in these times. He impacts the point of view of Muslims. Muhammad persevered through religious persecution to form a religion that over seven million Muslims follow in America alone. The faith brought to light by Muhammad is embrace by many, not only Muslims. Many have converted to Islam because of the example Muhammad led by.

The documentary tells the life story of the prophet Muhammad very detailed and the beginnings of Islam. Various authors, as well as university professors are interviewed, and share their Knowledge about this special person.
In addition to these interviews, Muslims in America te...( read more)ll their story. Many of them converted to Islam, because they felt connected to the struggles Muhammad went through. Also the message of the Qur?an had a great impact. The significance of helping others seems to play a big part in the Islamic lifestyle.
Dearborn, Michigan has the greatest population of Muslims in the United States. A nurse and her family show a little of the life for Muslims in a non-Muslim country. The fact, that she is able to serve people and help them means a lot for the nurse. The Muslims of the community also have a soup kitchen for the less fortunate. Most of the people, who come to eat, are non-Muslim, but this does not matter. Islamic people are supposed to help everyone, despite their race or religion.
This is also the mission of a New York fireman. Religion did not play a big part during his childhood, and whenever he grew older, he felt lost. He did not know where he belonged. The story of Muhammad caught his attention. His profession as a fireman lets him live up to his commitment as a Muslim.
After 9/11, many Americans blamed all Muslims for the tragedy. Some of them felt the need to explain their religion to others. Islam does not preach the message of killing people. Even though Muhammad had to go to war during his lifetime, the religion is still peaceful. The terrorists, who say they kill in the name of Islam, are not part of the true believers of the religion.
Even though Christianity, Judaism and Islam have the same roots, Islam is said to be the original religion and Muhammad is the only true prophet. Even though Muhammad is admired in the Islamic religion, there are no images to be found. The people should worship God, and not a man.

The documentary on the life of Muhammad was very enlightening and some what heart felt. Muhammad was a young orphan, not wealthy at all and could not read or write. During his time on the Mountain of Life he experienced a divine presence and was told by the angel Gabriel to recite three times and Muhammad insisted that he could not. Eventually, scripture came from Muhammad that later became known as the Qur'an to the Muslim nation. Muhammad was obedient in bringing about the Muslim religion which taught there was one God although he went through lots of rejection and ridicule that he did endure.. Muhammad experienced many different revelations during his life. His life was included many deaths in his own family, ridicule, rejection, famine and attempted assassinations towards himself but he seemed to have endured with still an obedient nature up until his death as he asked the Muslim nation during his final sermon on the Mount of Mercy had he fulfilled his mission from God and they repeated Yes! three times. The Muslim religion is still one of the largest growing religions today and Muhammad's legacy lives on. There is much to be learned as you watch this documentary as it clears up some of the misconceptions some people have toward the Muslim people and how compassionate they really are.
