A former student of such acclaimed filmmakers as Mira Nair, Ang Lee, and Ashotosh Gowariker, Apoorva Lakhia makes his directorial debut with this emotional romance. When a small village receives electricity for the first time, it's not long before former resident turned city dweller Kanji (Abhishek Bachchan) returns to her former neck of the woods with a television in tow. As the villagers become irresistibly drawn to this strange new object, Kanji spends some time getting reacquainted with his old friend Surya (Aditya Lakhia) -- and romancing the beautiful Kesar (Lara Dutta). When a meeting with Thakur (Yashpal Sharma) finds his romance drawn into question, a line is drawn that will eventually lead to a massive fight among the villagers. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi
