yes, this is a good film. the only fault i could find is the action sequences werent shot as well as i've seen in other asian war films. however it is an epic story and is otherwise easy on the eye. it's not bang-rajan but there's a bang to it. i didn't look at the time once whic...( read more)h is always a good sign. the problem is like aforementioned it doesn't hold to the standard of the action sequences of bang-rajan and it doesn't hold to the epic storyline standard of say house of flying daggers. if it wasn't for the classics this film would be a masterly success. it's kinda like how the korean brotherhood is good but still can't stand up to the likes of platoon. aside from comparisons i think all the actors did a good job along with the director. manages to hold the viewers interest with flowing ease

Fast and bloody action, complex characterization and subtle character interactions, great cinematography, ferocious battles and insights into death, glory and the human condition that would do Kurosawa, or even Homer, proud.

Just don't expect "wire-fu" because Ziyi Zhang (Cr...( read more)ouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon) and Yu Rong Guang (Iron Monkey) are in it. There's enough sword play, spear fighting and archery that the "wire fu" isn't missed. The third act drags a bit but there's enough action to keep one entertained.

A disparate collection of travellers, including soldiers, diplomats, and refugees are thrown together in 14th century china, pursued by the mongol army. Known as The Warrior in the UK, this historical epic inevitably draws comparison to Hero and House of Flying Daggers, but actua...( read more)lly is more in the tradition of Kurosawa than those more fantasy based offerings. It's a beautifully crafted historical adventure with just the right balance of heroism and believability, with beautifully shot locations and grippingly realistic battle sequences. Bichunmoo walked the walk but didn't quite have the edge to mix it with the big boys, but this is in a different league. Another reason why I think Korea is making the most exciting cinema in the world at the moment.

This Korean attempt at an historical epic is fine as far as it goes, but it could have been so much better.

This is an epic re-telling of the Kurosawa masterpiece Seven Samurai. This Asian (South Korean/Chinese) film made good use of that figure, with sometimes disturbing, but very well done fight scenes and in general, beautiful cinematography. This is a journey from start to f...( read more)inish. For all 2 1/2 hours, the group is journeying, and survives much longer than they expect. The characters were tremendously developed. Even peasants getting killed made you sad, because he or she had been given some screen time and you got to know them somewhat. Later on, it's an emotional rollercoaster, as familiar faces start to go down en masse in one final, epic battle.

Fantastic South Korean/Chinese co-production. Very well done. Worth watching specially because of Zhang Ziyi. Violent and heroic as it should be.

Not for everyone but this movie had a lot action and interesting characters. Nice to see Yu Rong Gong again. And Ziyi Zhang is always her gorgeous self.
