Critic Reviews from Rotten Tomatoes

"It's not a bad film, but it doesn't have the dimensions to hit some of the deeper emotional notes."
‑ Jason Di Rosso, MovieTime, ABC Radio National
"A showcase for Finnish acting talent and a significant step forward for Kotwica, though the closing reels of Musta Jää dilute its power as a psychological thriller in favour of plot twists more at home in a soap opera."
‑ Boyd van Hoeij, european-films.net
"The performances are uniformly excellent, particularly from the women...."
‑ Rhiannon Sawyer, FILMINK (Australia)
"Excellent performances and assured direction serve to keep the story engaging and dramatic in Petri Kotwica's third feature, which won five Finnish Jussi (film industry) awards including Best Film, Best Director, Best Script %u2013 and Best Actress for Ou"
‑ Andrew L. Urban, Urban Cinefile
