I liked it lots at the time it came out. Pesci is Pesci, Tomei is awesome and it?s got the Karate kid and Herman Hunster in it too!

Pitch perfect courtroom comedy about a lawyer defending his cousins of murder in a backwoods Alabama town. Fish out of water comedy features stellar performances by Pesci, Tomei and Gwynne. Likeable, funny and well written.

I was always curious to see just what made the Academy give an Oscar to Marisa Tomei. So, in one of those rainy, eventless afternoons I finally rented the film. I wouldn't say she deserved it... I mean, how the hell does anyone pick her over Vanessa Redgrave? But I can see now wh...( read more)y she won. She's completely over-the-top here: trashy, mouthful and with one of the most exaggerated New York accents in history. Still, it's Joe Pesci that makes this film. He's a total screen pleasure and his chemistry with Tomei is ultimately what makes this a likeable, mildly pleasant court-room comedy.

Vinny Gambini: Mr. Tipton. When you viewed the defendants walking from their car into the Sac-o-Suds what angle was your point of view?
Mr. Tipton: They was kinda walking towards me when they entered the store.
Vinny Gambini: And when they were leaving, what angle was your point ...( read more)of view?
Mr. Tipton: They was kinda walking away from me.
Vinny Gambini: So would you say that you had a better shot of them going in and not so good coming out?
Mr. Tipton: You can say that.
Vinny Gambini: I did say that. Would "You" say that?

Joe Pesci stars in this hysterical court room comedy, playing a New York lawyer, defending his cousin's in Alabama.

Bill and Stan, one of which is played by the karate kid himself, Ralph Macchio are on a road trip, visit a convenience store along the way, and are then arrested. While being under the impression that they have been arrested for accidentally shoplifting, they soon learn that they have actually been arrested for murder.

With a lack of funds, they call cousin Vinny, played by Joe Pesci, who comes to the service of his relatives. More problems ensue as the boys learn that Vinny has no experience what so ever.

Along with Vinny, his girlfriend played by Marisa Tomei, sexy even with her New York accent, comes along as well.

What follows is greatness, as Pesci deals with his lack of legal experience, court room behavior, his noisy girlfriend, and a judge who can't stand the man.

This movie is just really funny. Pesci leads a great cast, which also includes Fred "Herman Munster" Gwynne as the judge.

    A lot of fun.

Vinny Gambini: I understand you played a game of pool with Lisa for $200, which she won. I'm here to collect.
J.T.: How 'bout if I just kick your ass?
Vinny Gambini: Oh, a counter-offer. That's what we lawyers - I'm a lawyer - we lawyers call that a counter-offer. This is a tough decision here. Get my ass kicked or collect $200. Let me think... I could use a good ass-kickin', I'll be very honest with you... nah, I think I'll just go with the two hundred.
    J.T.: Over my dead body.
Vinny Gambini: You like to renegotiate as you go along, don't you? Well here's my counter-offer... do I have to kill you? What if I were just to kick the ever loving shit out of you?
    J.T.: In your dreams.
Vinny Gambini: Oh no no... in reality. If I was to kick the shit out of you, do I get the money?

I can watch this movie over and over again. Joe Pesci stars as a rugged, but intelligent lawyer takes on his cousins murder trial, with hilarious consequences. Tomei and rest of the cast are great.
