I remember liking it when I was 14 and having a big crush on "Nicole", but what I would think of it now...
This film had me screaming from the sofa!! A young girl makes out that her father is a paedophile and what does he do when he finds out - he goes along with it so she can get together with a boy on the island! How stupid can you get??
If I was Andre and my daughter had done that, I would make sure that she told everyone the truth and cleared my name, no child should ever do that to a parent just to impress someone. I was so glad when Ben didn't want anything to Nicky - serves the bitch right!!
The only saving grace of this film apart from the comedic performance of Gerard Depardieu and the wonderful music is Dalton James. But sadly getting together with nicky would be the worst thing that Ben could have done
Not your guy flick but still one of thoise movies you could tolorate or make fun of as you watch with your special someone.
Cutie movie that has a sort of weird premise. Katherine Heigl tries to get the guy she likes jealous by pretending her dad is her boyfriend. Ew!
Scene "Thank heaven for the little girls" song at the bar is completely hilarious! The movie, probably is worth because of this scene!
Gérard Depardieu is such a cool Actor. I love his Movies. He is a Multi Talented Actor. Just Adorable.
I just love this Movie. One of my Favorate Scene:
Nicole: Daddy, can I talk to you about something?
Andre: Of course. You can talk to me about anything.
Nicole: Anything?
Andre: Anything at all. What is it? Tell me.
Nicole: Promise not to yell.
Andre: I promise. Now tell me.
Nicole: It's really not that bad.
Andre: Tell me.
Nicole: You said you wouldn't yell.
Andre: That was not yelling, trust me.
Nicole: I told Ben you weren't my father.
Andre: Why?
Nicole: Because I wanted to impress him.
Andre: What did you tell him I was? A famous pianist? A wirter? What?
Nicole: [she takes a deep breath] I told him you were my lover.
Andre: Are you serious?
Nicole: Yes.
Andre: Are you out of your mind? What the hell were you thinking about?
Nicole: You're yelling.
Andre: Of course I'm yelling! My daughter tells some stranger that her father is her, her...
Nicole: *Lover*!
Andre: Oh, God! I hate that word. It's so... so graphic. Who else thinks this?
Nicole: A few of the other people.
Andre: How many of them?
Nicole: All of them.
Andre: All of them! Incroyable! I've been walking around here with you the past few days. They think I'm child molester!
Nicole: [she starts to cry] You're yelling again.
Andre: Why... why do you make up such stories?
Nicole: I don't know. It just comes naturally to me.
Andre: So it's genetic. Is that it?
Nicole: Yes. No! I don't know.
Andre: You have to tell him the truth.
Nicole: I tried to. Believe me, it's not that easy. I care about him.
Andre: [he smiles at her] Do you love him?
Nicole: Yes, I think so. I mean, yes, I do.
A vaguely remember this movie but what I can remember the sweet connection between the father and daughter.
i really liked this movie it was great it had the girls falll in love and the dad try to re-connect with his daughter
AHH DALTON JAMES! COULD HE LOOK ANYMORE LIKE JAMES MARSDEN?! I am in love. I loved this movie when I was little and that hasnt changed at all.
Two words that always strike dread into my heart: "family" and "entertainment". Gerard Depardieu and his cute as pie daughter have heartwarming misadventures while I reach for the sick bucket.
Pretty funny, but I get tired of the comedies that rely so heavily on a character being misunderstood by the people around them.. Depardieu goes through the movie with everyone around him mistaking him for some sort of pedophile, and that is supposed to be funny....
E! channel often played clips of this ovie as Katherine Heigl way back then career....she still around 14 int his movie....she showed her butt in this movie...
I saw this...Didnt like it.....And it kinda confused me. And that french guy gerard whatshisface is really scary!
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this movie! It cracks me up so much! Katherine Heigl is GORGEOUS both in scrubs and out--Gerard Depardieu is hilarious--Emma Thompson, gorgeous--this movie is hilaroius, about a young girl who wants to grow up too fast and an understanding father who tries to make his daughter happy even though SHE really doesn't even know what she wants! Two very enthusiastic thumbs up and I highly recommend you see this!
I could stare at Dalton James for a long time. Faith Prince is fucking hilarious. Katherine Heigl has since learned how to act effectively. Gerard Depardieu might be a good actor, but he needs serious help with the use of emphasis in English.
This was really funny. Especially when Gerard's character is singing 'Thank Heaven For Little Girls' when everyone thinks he's sleeping with his daughter. If you don't get it, you have to see it.
Wanna know what's creepy? A film where a teenage girl pretends her father is her boyfriend so a teenage boy will get jealous and fall in love with her. A movie penned by Humbert Humbert.
This movie came out when I was like 10, but it still is such a great flick to this day, and the guy in it is hot; these were the days before Katherine Heigl made waves on "Roswell" and presently, "Grey's Anatomy". Great funny movie!
Such a cheesy film. I remember watching this when I was 14 and still thinking it was crap. It destroyed my love of Gerard Depardieu's acting.
Great romantic love story. This is the first movie me and my husband seen at the theater together. Gerard is great as a father afraid of losing his daughter. He is a delight to watch here. Worth seeing.
The original version (the French one) was cute and interesting. I have seen some parts of this version and it has not catched my attention at all.
