2 girls spend the summer getting to know one another and yes, even in that way. Interesting movie set in a small English town. Felt it left a little too much untouched, but it sure did cover what people really are. The ending will surprise you.
the sceneries in this movie is damn damn beautiful. those kinda places that you want to escape to and when nobody knows you. the story was pretty beautiful too, lets you think about how being a rebel is.
This movie was quite boring and didn't make much sense to me, the only thing which i liked in this movie was the landscapes. Definitely not my kind of movie.
its gd but its like u shouldnt watch it if ur upset lol it wil just make u worse lol.. but yea its gd i'd watch it ova nd ova if i had it on dvd lol, i feel well bad 4 mona tho :( that posh tart leadin her on like that :( lol
An interesting movie. Good story plot that follows two young women who explore and experiment together. It's quite interesting to see Emily Blunt in a role such as this movie. Quite fascinating!
There's more than a hint of Oranges Are Not The Only Fruit in this tale of lust, rebellion and brotherly disapproval. Having read the aforementioned novel, I couldn't help feeling that everything this film touched upon had been done before, and in a more effective way. As a standalone piece it is certainly competent, with leads Nathalie Press and Emily Blunt creating a believable relationship and Paddy Considine providing excellent support, but I just couldn't lose the feeling I'd seen (or more accurately, read) it all before.
pretty dreary depressing stuff. not really sold on this. there is nothing likeable about any of the characters, making their stories difficult to care about. not that the acting was bad, if anything it ios the saving grace of the film.
I initially went into this watching a well-made coming-of-age drama about two young girls who have a love affair over the summer. But during the course of it, especially at the end, it also becomes an indictment of religion and a bit of an indictment on "true love". The tone goes from passion and longing to cynicism so quickly that you can practically hear the needle get ripped off the record it's so abrupt. But it works, I'm just still figuring out what exactly it means. Nathalie Press and Emily Blunt are both great in their roles, as is Paddy Considine, who I'm enjoying more and more the more I see of him. A well-done sensual movie.
what i love the most about this movie is that it shows strongly on how you're not suppose to FUCK on people's feelings especially during a dangerous "game" and you'll receive the utmost consequences..... this movie certainly shows it very, very clearly..
A very good film. Beautifully written and filmed in and around my home town, the characters are well-rounded and it has the perfect blend of drama, humour and subtle eroticism. It has a very strong ending too, which is brilliant because, when watching it, I couldn't think of a satisfying conclusion to it! Very well done!
Beguiling and hypnotic throughout, Pawlikowski's drama transcends aestetical archetypes of contemporary British cinema. There is a vibrancy here that renders even the most industrious landscapes with a shimmering lucidity. Nathalie Press and Paddy Considine offset the elegant visual composition with exquisitely naturalistic performances, refined through improvisation. Utterly singular and dripping with unspoken eroticism.
i was highly disappointed with this movie. The story is rather simple, purhaps too simple, and the relaionship is not taken into much detail at all. On top of everything, the ending leaves you hanging
I think this is a prime example of how great british cinema can be. It's has the trademark style of a british film, it's funny, it's dark and the performances are good too.
Tamsin: 'If you leave me, I'll kill you.' Mona: 'If you leave me, I'll kill you....and then I'll kill myself.'
Its a film I have come to admire, the direction by Pawel Pawlikowski is one highlights of the film in which it is done with such a natural grace, you notice for the first 10 minutes of film how simple it all appears, like its shot on a very cheap camera, but you lose yourself in the movie after that and it is somehow hypnotic. It also delivers extraordinary performances from its leads that you forget how independent the film really is and are so absorbed by the quality of the script, how charming and romantic and can be and how silently powerful in moments it is.
Only downside of the film is its sudden ending, it does answer all questions and doesn't leave you in the dark, but you do expect something a little more then the way it suddenly ended. A charming, hypnotic film that is never trashy or graphic, but silently powerful and charming.
Surprisingly well acted, written, and directed. Although slow. it offers much character development and a great look into the life of a young a beautiful girl and an equally setting. Great chemistry between the two young actresses.
Good performances all round, particularly from Natalie Press, about a relationship between two girls who share the summer together and the differences between them.
I don't know why this movie disturbed me as much as it did. It really dipicts obsession and infatuation. I'm glad that in the end mona is liberated... you can see it on her face
