I was not expecting this movie to be any good, and imagine my surprise when it was! This movie was hilarious. As a huge comic book geek, this was a wonderful take on the superhero genre. Plus, having Uma Therman and Anna Faris in a movie together is my dream come true.
I wasn?t really interested in this when it came out at the cinema but I watched it not long ago and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I thought Eddie Izzard was the star of the show, and I do like Anna Faris!
Was okay. More witty humour than anything else. The 2.5 stars are more for Thurman and Faris girl fighting at the end...I wish they had of made out afterwards! And it was almost a rip off of Superman which was weird. Rainn Wilson was pretty funny though.
My Super Ex-Girlfriend doesn't hold a lot of surprises -- it's as funny as it looks, it's nice and short, and fulfills a light evening of entertainment. It's more fun, still, to look closer at the source of its comedy and see that emasculation paranoia is alive and well. The movie is full of male shootdown moments -- girls actually recognizing when a guy's a jerk and saying "no"; knee-jerk accusations of sexual harassment; the woman taking control in bed; and, of course, the woman not only being able to protect herself just fine, but also being around to save the guy plenty of times (or, to turn it around, threaten him). It could almost be seen as a chauvinist's complete surrender to the inevitability of gender equality; the part that makes it questionable is when Uma Thurman's superheroine, Jenny aka G-Girl, becomes the titular ex-girlfriend. She displays what the dating male might perceive as the most fearful, irrational traits of a woman, amped up, of course, for the sake of hilarity. It's indeed sexist comedy, but would it be much different if a woman wrote the story (the screenwriter in this case is Don Payne)? I actually know women who are quite fond of stories of break-up revenge fantasies who might get a kick out of this. A female writer, though, wouldn't make G-Girl as borderline psychotic as she is here (although Thurman really seems to delight in getting into her part); also, Luke Wilson's boyfriend might've been more liable for his faults. The gender perspective imbalance evident here is the difference between what might've made this an elighteningly funny flick and what makes this a trivially fun one.
A typical romantic comedy flick that uses the Superhero thing as vehicle for laughs. While there's a couple "oh cool" Superhero moments, G-Girl's powers are used for laughs and chuckles. It has its moments, and the Superhero thing is funny, but not done very well. I've seen Luke Wilson and Uma Thurman do much better, they were really hindered by a poor script.
The storyline wasn't too bad, there was some entertainment, even though it was pretty predictable most of the time. Uma Thurman and Rainn Wilson definitely worked well, but the ending was a little ridiculous..
OMG. this is sooo horrible. half of the movie wz about how they met. the revenge part wz only a little part of the movie. Besides, the revenges are soo not sweet. soo boring
Fun and clever, this is a lot better than it looks. Although the title is pretty much the plot, man tries to dump superhero, only she's a little unhinged, it is still thoroughly enjoyable and it isn't something we've seen addressed before. Its only fault is that, despite a male lead, at times this smells a little of misandry and I really don't find sexism funny or comfortable.

Better than I thought it might be. The premise and storyline are straightforward but I was surprised by how good Thurman was as the insanely jealous and neurotic spurned super hero
well i always thought that they'd go back together at the end..didn't like the fact that luke wilson ended up with another girl..but he sure did learned his lesson
Another good script wasted on the bad acting of Luke Wilson. I hate you Luke Wilson! Go AWAY! AND Eddie Izzard is so queeny, how the hell could you cast him in a straight role. Bad, Bad casting director! No cookie for you!
A movie I mistakenly pre-judged. Still no classic but a lot better than most Hollywood comedies. Luke Wilson is a far better actor than his blonde brother.
After watching the trailer I was expecting it to be really funny but I was really disappointed. I didn't find it that funny. It wasn't completely awful but I wouldn't want to see it again.
