This is the first horror movie that I saw from Indonesia, it's the first Indonesian movie i've ever seen. Unfortunately it come out for humorous than horrifying.
While researching a book that takes her to Bali and the black magic cult of Leák, Cathy meets an evil witch which promises to train her in the dark arts. Tricked, Cathy is turned into a Penanggalan; a flying vampire with internal organs hanging from her neck. It is now up to the local holy men who are then enforced to do battle with the forces of evil. I honestly can say the poorly written story is the best part of the movie. I had some laughs during the "scary" moments of the movies, which none it has.
I've never seen so many poorly written characters and their reaction to the situations. In one scene, a woman literally barfs up three mice in green slime and the characters act like one of them farted. I'm not making this up, the ending will probably make you laugh harder than any horror movie has in years. As some guy we never heard off or seen fight against a Lake Monster, trying to explain the "climax" hilariousness is trying to explain the plot of Gingerdead Man to someone without having the person laugh.
Mystics in Bali is unfortunately my Indonesian that i've ever watched, and it's also the most hilarious horror i've ever seen. I recommend this to bad movie lover, though it only has a few hilarious moment.
